I don't know if anyone will even be looking for reviews of this game by now, but I'm really surprised this game has such good ratings for what it is. Personally, when I play this, I feel like I'm forcing myself to look for the positive aspects to try and find a reason to keep playing.
I never gave this game too much attention when it was first released, but recently I've been feeling short of things to play and it was recommended to me by a friend with similar tastes to me, who called it quite similar to a few games that I do like. I'll start by saying the game looks really nice on high settings, and I've noticed a couple of neat features like fairly realistic weapon degrading rates with visible damages on the weapon, and the door barging system. However, the game feels probably the most watered down a game has ever felt to me - loot respawns every time you load up your save, you can't repair weapons with similar or identical ones and instead you have to pay to repair them at a workbench, it seems new weapons are set to auto equip if the level requirement for it is higher even if it's a weapon which isn't as effective as your current weapon for your character, and forced lock on messes up what would otherwise be decent melee combat. The worst part is that none of the annoying features can be changed or disabled. The inventory screen also functions quite poorly, and the shadow of your character looks absolutely ridiculous in every sense of the word - I'm astonished that this last issue hasn't been patched as it's completely laughable.
Overall, for me this game is disappointing considering how good my friend and other reviewers have made it out to be. If you're looking for a game which is immersive and realistic or exciting and rewarding, I strongly advise you to look elsewhere.
