How to use Xbox 360 controller on Doom 3

is there anyway i can set the controls to my xbox controller. i was lookin around in the settings and things and i couldnt change any settings

Short of getting an outside program like Xpadder, you can't. The store page doesn't say anything about controller support, and steam is usually really good about putting on whether a game has built in controller support at a full, or even partial level. So yeah, you're not going to find anything in the settings for it.
