How to get EAX/Surround to work?

I can get it to let me set to Surround speakers if I add it to Creative ALchemy, but even with it added to that (I use the Universal version), it won't let me turn on EAX.

i have the same problem with F.E.A.R But for some reason with doom 3 it work perfectly fine?

D3 had a special driver that allowed EAX to run. It was XP driver only.

i can verify that doom3 classic version don't work with win10 and alchemy activated with a creative zxr card.
Only thing that works is 5.1 surround sound

you have to enable first Surround/EAX feature from your sound card settings...
and them
1) - start your game
2) - open doom 3 (in-game console)
3) - write s_useEAXReverb 1
4) - write reloadengine
- it restarts game, settings and sounds
5) - play now

or

Just easier way is to set "+set s_useEAXReverb 1" in launch options of Doom 3 in steam
