AbsoluteHD mod work with Steam version?

Does this mod work with the Steam version of this game? I download and drop it in the /steamapps/common/Doom 3 folder but it doesn't have any effect it seems. I'm not sure what exactly I'm doing wrong. I've seen mention on the mod page and here of people using it on Steam but nobody says how.

A bit of guidance would be greatly appreciated :-)

PS: this is the vanilla, non-BFG version. I know mods don't work with the BFG edition.

I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing wrong then.

Am I suppose to be installing it into a specific folder? When I run the installer I put it in this folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Doom 3\Doom 3

Then I load up the game and nothing has changed. There's a "Doom 3" option when I click mods but loading that doesn't seem to change anything either.

You need to install it in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Doom 3" not in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Doom 3\Doom 3".

I made the same mistake the first time, if you look inside the doom 3 directory there should be an ahd directory containing the mod, this is the way mods are installed in doom 3: you create a directory for the mod inside the main doom 3 folder.
