Uninstall the game, and reinstall it.
Put your save files back into the base directory.
Open up task manger (Ctrl + Alt + Del), and pin it to your task bar.
Try launching the game, if like usual, it fails to launch.
Go to your Task Manager, go to process and look for it.
You should see that the memory it's using is unchanging.
Right click the process, and "End Task", then try launching again QUICKLY!
After clicking your shortcut QUICKLY, go back to task manager.
Give it three to five seconds to build the memory, if it keeps going higher than the previous amount it should try to launch itself, give it more time.
If it still doesn't launch, try it a few times Quickly.
This was the last way I was able to launch steams version.
I cannot find doom3.exe in the Processes tab of Task Manager. In fact (hoping this is extra useful info) the screen blacks out for 1 second when i try to run the file. I am not sure if it is in the processes tab or not. Trying to launch it, comeing back to desktop after a second and quickly booting it again has no effect either. Is it time to give up?
