"way more content"? The countless number of mods for the game already provide way more content than the BFG edition. Including coop support.
Coop was the main reason (along with other mods) why I like the original more.
Here are many of them here (to those that are intersted): http://doom3.filefront.com/
That's correct, the BFG Edition CUTS CONTENT FROM THE ORIGINAL GAME.
Among the many things and features that have been cut from the BFG addition, the removal of what many consider to be the most fun part of the RoE expansion's hell area was cut, all arcade/mini-games (such as Hellanoid and Martian Buddy Blaster) except for Super Turkey Turbo Punch have been removed. Several shadows have been removed, etc. etc.
They did far more/worse than just turning the lights up/over brightening scenes.
Also the "Lost Mission" is largely cut/pasted sections of levels from the original and expansion and is thrown together rather haphazardly.
The original Doom games included are also missing content, altered and have several quality-issues and errors such as sound effect sampling problems.
Save your money and buy the original. Use a 3rd-party tool for gamepad support if it's that important.
the main reason why I didn't upgrade to the BFG Edition
Although it's pretty weird to want gamepad support for a game centred around the Holy Mouse+Keyboard
Amen!
have you got a detailed list of what was cut?
