Do you have a dedicated graphics card?

What do you mean dedicated??
I think that it does that because of the compatibility of the cpu with the graphics card

Well, for example;I have a Nvidia GTX 660. That is a dedicated graphics card. If your graphics card is built into the motherboard, I'll be willing to bet thats why your having lag issues.

no you dont need new motherboard, he just didnt know HD 5770 is graphic card

you need to tweak your driver setting (for example turn off catalyst ai.) or just trying out a different driver version

Hmm, have you tried to verify the cache of Doom 3? Perhaps there's a missing file that's causing the problem. You can do it by right clicking on Doom 3 here on Steam, go to Properties --> Local Files --> Verify. Hope it'll work out for you. If it does, let us know what you did!
