I bought the game way back in the day, but hardly played it. Got it again a few years back on Steam with the ID Pack and started playing again recently. It's certainly an old school shooter.. like Quake and Half-Life etc and so it appeals to the old school gamers who pride gameplay over graphics. I'm only about 10 levels in but I'll complete it soon enough. The weapons are very satisfying to use. I've not come across a shotgun just yet though.. if one is in the game that is.

Only bad things I can say about this game is it completely skips the Egypt levels. Also it removes the armored dogs and the undead dudes in the church that throw lightning bolts.

True, those where awsome parts to the game that should have been in this version.

Me as well, I still have my "GOTY" edition, which had Wolfenstein 3D as a bonus, and a bunch of other stuff, concept art, comics,{nothing special} desktop wallpaper and such. For me it holds up really well, and there's a lot of user made levels out there.

Egypt and some dogs should be in the game? In exactly what game? RtCW multiplayer or single player? I know an MP map Egypt played in server f but that's about it. Have my GotY 2003 cd's too layin around here + an 1.0 copy. I only played MP all those years and still.

I loved the MP in this game. It had the perfect balance of Quake 3 style movement and shooting with objective team based play. There hasn't been a game that really gets the formula right.

I actually wished Enemy Territory never game out cuz it really weakened the RtCW community. I was never a fan of Splash Damage on both their maps or their game design ideas. I wished Nerve had the helm on with Quake Wars cuz that game was a failure.

I am doing another sp playthrough and I still think RTCW looks fantastic. It may lack shaders and all other modern eye candy, but wow, the lighting (whether static or dynamic) sets the mood perfectly and I still consider RTCW to be one of the best looking shooters of all time.

The gameplay and level design is so damn polished that it puts most modern fps's to shame. Leaning, health packs/armor (no regenerating health), no weapon limit (you carry whatever you find), treasure, secret areas, etc. etc., really scratches an itch and is satisfying.

The soundtrack and length of the sp campaign make RTCW one of the most fantastic and epic World War II games ever made, and the whole N*zi Germany meets Dr. Frankenstein theme works perfectly making the story enjoyable to follow as you play.

Grey Matter created an epic masterpiece that is still loved and played today. I would rate the sp alone at 9.5, and the entire sp/mp package at 9.8.

Not only is RTCW one of the best shooters ever made, it is simply one of the greatest games of all time.

Man everyone remember the Multiplayer Demo that was launched before the game came out? I forget the level but it was basically like Normandy with shellings everywhere - that was insanity to me - I was a diehard Quake 3 player but my mind was blown at the WW2 Realism and everything going on all at once :D.

I think it was actually called Omaha. I remember playing the multiplayer on this game all the damn time during my school days. It really was awesome.

I can sadly enough still remember the rush of that level, trying to defend the sea wall whilst having endless smoke grenades thrown over at you, constantly being barraged with artillery. Used to love the sniping too.

Yes a new Wolfenstein is coming out in May, but they won't have a multiplayer...

I would be perfectly happy if they did a 100% clone of the RtCW gameplay with a graphics facelift. I would definitely pre-order the game if they included it. I'm sure others would love it too, cuz RtCW still gets played competitively in some circles.

RTCW without MP? Who's the genius that came up with that idea?
