better specify your problem, you are playing in lan mode? or online?

if the problem is online, check it is not something related to your account on gamespy, create another account and see if the connection is reestablished, make test.

with further testing it seems to be only with one of our friends that cannot connect or host .

-this is a online mode. (using the standard gamespy crap)

ALSO using the same houses router I was able to connect to the same persons room mate's computer threw his borderlands copy.

so it stands to be It may be the computer or account itself.

I am also having an issue connecting to gamespy to play online, what gives. Tried making a new acct, but gamespy is like...broken.

gamespy over, but all related to game management accounts was transferred to another site, the account creation for borderlands remains the same.

Delete any profile that you have created in single player mode, and then create a new account on gamespy totally different (do the standard procedure, create your own in the game).

good .... If you and your friends want to play using the same router, I advise you to play on lan mode, to play online you need to have certain open ports on your router, I believe 4 players using the same router in online mode must be properly configured to not cause error with the same ip address, if you still can not use the lan than the game itself gives you so, I advise you to open your game using Tunngle.
