SDK World Builder not working...
I have been trying to open the Civ V SDK World Builder tool and it won't open! I get to the menu I select the World Builder and the loading screen opens, I have waited for over an hour before for it to load, but it won't! Then when I click on the window it says it's not responding so I wait for it to respond but it doesn't! I have tried redownloading it too but I've gotten the same result. It be greatly appriciated if someone could help.

UPDATE: Ok it will open now but as soon as I get the loading screen it says it needs to send an error report to Firaxis. But as soon as I push "OK" it says the don't they don't have an error report system set up for people outside of Firaxis.

Yeah I tried it just now and I had to make two installs and after that I got the exact same thing as you. Now reading all the Civ 5 doesn't work threads I faer that those two downloads will have f-ed up the game as well. Hopefully not.

I am also experiencing this issue. I checked around several sites and found one guy saying it was his antivirus, unlikely, but I tried it, however it did not work. The forums on every site are spammed with people saying

what is world builder and where did you get it

or similar things. To answer the question, go to your steam library, click on all games, then click on tools in the menu. It should be in Sid Mier's Civilization V SDK, which includes ModBuddy, World Builder, and two other tools to assist you with mods.

Not to offend you or anything, but if you know how to use Google, Bing, or Yahoo, then you can search it and results with pop up with where to get World Builder and what it is. Not real helpful to post it in something that has a completely different issue.

So, if anyone has any advice or answers to getting World Builder to go beyond loading screen please help.

Thanks in advance.

I had same problem using Windows 8. Ran it on my Windows 7 laptop and it worked fine. Can't figure out how to load it once I come back in to Div 5.

I believe I found the issue. PLEASE NOTE: I am using Windows 8.

It worked on my system after I went to the Civ 5 SDK folder in steam apps, then to the World Builder folder and to the World Builder application. I set the compatability mode to Windows 7 for the application. You do this by right clicking, selecting properties, and then compatability.

I then ran the program with a shortcut I made on my desktop. To create a manual shortcut, right click, then select create shortcut. To be safe I would do this, as I am not sure yet whether this works with Steam's shortcut.

The issue, I believe, was with Windows 8. If you are using Windows 7, then it may be another issue completely. However if you are using an OS older than 7 (XP, Vista) I would suspect it might not work.

Thank you to h-y-hays for posting this:

Thanks for posting! I tried this and it still wouldn't work! I am going to try restarting the computer and using the Steam shortcut and get back to you. :)

You may want to try running the World Builder application instead of running World Builder through the SDK application.

That's what I did but it's still won't work :(

Are you running Windows 8 or Windows 7? If you are running 7, there may be a different issue, and if you are running Windows 8, try setting the compatability to XP or Vista. Also, if you are running 7, make sure your computer is 64 bit and not 32. While Civilization V might be able to run on 32, the SDK may not.

I am having the same issue... I have re-installed it, restarted my computer, switched the compatibility... My game works fine, and I downloaded the gold package just a few weeks ago and that works fine as well. I have Windows 7, and my computer runs awesome.

I couldn't get it to even open a window after my first time so I uninstalled it and re-installed it and it still wouldn't work. So I opened task manager and ended the world builder process and it works fine now.
