Some questions
1. On the demographics, what is literecy and approval?
2. I was fighting a civ, and took over all of their citys, but they still have some untis, which I can't find. Is there a way to know where those units are?
3. When a building says "requires 1 coal", will it consume the coal?
4. Will I attack many city-states, will allied city-states get mad at me?

1) Literacy is the percenatage of the tech tree you've researched. It will be zero until you research writing. Approval rating is base on happiness. Not sure how it's calculated, but it means nothing gamewise.
2) Do you have "require complete kills" on? When a civ loses all its cities the units go to, unless you check the box. To find them, you just have to keep looking. May take a while if it's a naval unit.
3) It will remove it from what's available to use. Like was said, it becomes available again if you no longer have whatever is using it (factory in this case).
4) Ones that are allied with you? No. The other ones? Yes. The other civs won't like it either.

Also, How can I bring people back to the game if I have their capital (if I have it, not if I just took it)?
