Tutorial Question
Hi all,
this is the first time i play a Civ game (and i think the first time also i play a game of this kind) and i'm having a lot of fun. I'm playing through the "real time tutorial" (the first one you can select, i don't know if is correct to call it in this way) and i'm wondering if it'll end soon or later, What kind of tutorial is it? Should i start a new game from the single player? Also can somebody explain me how this tutorial differs from the other chapter-based ones? -tnx

Since the tutorial is during quite a bit (70 turns since now), could you tell me how much it takes to finish? I'm not trying to pass these important things, but if i play a tutorial which lasts 1-2 hour and then restart the campaign again doing nearly the same things, would be a little bit repatitve...Maybe i shoud try to do the chapter-based tutorials instead?

If you feel you have a grasp of the game thus far, and are getting bored of tutorials, I suggest you jump right into the game on a low difficulty and see how you fare. Beyond the basics of how to control things, this game is truly about strategy, which is very hard to teach in tutorials.

dude, i have been playing the Civ games for comming up to 5 years and im still learning. i think its the type of game that once you perfect the basics you'll start to explore your own stratagies- but the real trick, and this is just my personal opinion, is to constantly find weaknesses in your style of play. every option has strengths and weaknesses and i personally don't think that one way of doing things is right for every game. when ever you feel up for playing it online with out the pressure of over competitive egos and genius's who just want to wipe the floor with people within the first 10 turns, feel free to give me a shout. im happy to share a few things and i enjoy a nice relaxing game from time to time. =)

I'm not sure I ever even tried the tutorial. So I don't know anything about it (I'm an old veteran of the Civ games though). I think it's simple enough to understand the basics, no real tricks or secret shortcuts to learn. Just give whatever commands the big button on the bottom tells you to do, and you'll figure out the rest. Left click a unit to move it, right click on a destination (you have no idea how nice you guys have it these days). Anytime something must be done, that lower right button will tell you, but you are free to do things in any order you need to.

Umm ive never ever done a civ tutorial that i can remember. Ive played since the original and just kept buying over the years. But you have me curious as to if there is something i could learn from it. After all theyve made some wild changes in this game since the beginning....
