On screen with Poland u can find Assyria too. One of Italian merchant faction could be very interesting. UA for Poland is solidarity, free social policy after each era. But it's not about faction, it's about expand the way how we could play Civ V. G&K was a good addon and I'm sure this one will be great as well :)

I know they're making a scenario about it, but maybe the CSA with Jefferson Davis as the leader. Also, I do like the Idea of adding the Isrealites. I was actually thinking about that the other day. Have like, Moses as the leader and take out the Jerusalum City State and make it the capital, like what they're doing with Warsaw and Poland. Having just a straight up Italy civ would be nice as well, not sure who the leader would be, as I doubt it would be Mussolini, however. Also, maybe Scotland? I think that would be neat.

A better leader for Israel I believe should be either Solomon or David (both biblical kings) or Ben-Gurion ( the first prime minister)

Scotland is in the game sort of as Celts

True on both :P I think David would fit, considering he's probably more famous than the others, and I thought about the Celts as the Scotts as well, but then I thought of it as just Ireland :P

I would like to see Israel, Belgium, Confederate States of America, and the Seleucid Empire.
The Bear Man Mar 15, 2013 @ 3:17pm
Seleucid? Never heard of them, also, we have similar ideas ;D

the Seleucid empire was 312 bc- 63 bc. it formed after the fall of alexanders empire and was later annexedby rome in 63 bc. They were located and extended in about the same area as persia and babylon. And the civ i want to see most woud be the csa that would be awesome! :D

An African Civ is basically guaranteed with the new "Scramble for Africa" scenario. Zulu is most likely.

The problem with real history is that Europe is the only place where we see a lot of cultures emerge and be eclipsed, to the point where picking and choosing is a real issue, whereas the rest of the world we've got to pick just about everything we can find for a game such as this.

For example something is seriously needed in South Africa and the only thing avaliable is the Kingdom of Zimbabwe (Hopefully without Shaka, and with a leader from its glory days instead) There are a few other kingdoms in the region but they are predecessors or ones that follow after the decline, such as Mutapa.

I don't think the scenario really needs to point where the civs go as other scenarios just have a bunch of minor leaders and typically doesn't follow the rules of the general game anyhow.
That said a kingdom of Kush, or something, isn't that unlikely.

Venice I think is interesting, it's the very defenition of a city state, yet it conqured and spred its culture quite far. I'd much rather see this than some generic itallian faction.

With the otehr colonial powers already in the game it's hard to avoid Portugal, I am however not sure what they could bring to the table. (Which I suppose is the reason why they aren't in the game already.)

Hungary is always mentioned in these cases as well, never a real super power, but still significant. Again back to the tiny crowded Europe. :/
I'd much rather see something like Thrace.
Though I think Armenia is a take on this, to add something old that's been fighting in all the wars and unlike Thrace isn't directly in the crowded area (Game wise) and is stil around (Even though the Turks did make a farily modern attempt to change that.)

China could do with some splitting up, but the fact remains that they are similar. The differences are mainly due to what rulers and what times one take into account, not cultural.

I'd like to see civs outside of Europe / Middle East / North Africa, but I can't come up with any good ones. Just naming nowadays countries, is just stupid. USA is a unique modern developement, Canada is not. (Sorry, Aye.)
There's a reason they've bundled up a few civs as peoples rather than nations. That's why Scotland, Wales, Ireland is just simply Celts. Never really accomplish much other than being a thorn in the side to the Romans and later English and survive the ordeal and they have that in common, as well as being celtish.

Assyria, what can I say, sure one of the old kingdoms, but never great other than as a merchant hub. And lo and behold smack bang in the middle of the crowded Middle East. At least I think they can provide a unique culture. Hopefully this isn't going to be another Arabic speaking leader. Seriously why would civilized people speak the language of the desert barbarians? (I still hope for a patch/fix where Egypt speaks something that resemble Egyptian and not Arabic.)

Selucia, sure a big kingdom of it days, but it's greek as far as I'm concerned, same with Bactiria and the like. All remnants of Alexander the Great's work that slowly withered and died. That Selucia was great, is more a testimony to Alexander's accomplishments than to Selucid, or whatever that followed.

Edit; One of the old empires that'd be much more intersting than Assyria is the Hittite one, with them not even being in the same language group as the other old empires as welll as being the first with ironworking and a general weird set-up. Like the world's at the time largest city up in the mountains where nothing could grow, as far as anyone can tell just because it made for an easy to defend position.
