CIV V won't start
I select the DX9 option, a large black box opens for a split second, then nothing. I've tried all of the suggestions i've read here......updating drivers, uninstall/reinstall, deleting unnecessary folders, and contacting support(still no answer). Nothing has worked, please help!

no one can help you here unless you tell us your operating system- xp? vista? 7? 8?
I know it will not run in win xp Service pack 2- you need service pack 3, and other operating systems need uppraged service packs also-
I have xp service pack 3 but keeps crashing. It's been like this for the last 24 hours.I'll try to reinstall it.

Well we need to know your specs before you tell us its not working.... make sure you are compatible. Also, make sure you read the REQUIRED AND RECOMMENDED thing at the bottom of every steam page to make sure you are compatible.

Everything is well-beyond the required specs and compatible. I haven't had this problem with any other game installed from disk, so I was assuming it's a problem with the download.

Hi, I can't start the dx11 version too. It loads for a few secs and then it stops. The civ5 process stays pending and does nothing except of using 6-15 MB of RAM. The dx9 version works, but I want to play with all the features as I have a very solid desktop. (Win7 x64 Ulti on SSD, i5-3570K, 16GB RAM, NVidia 670) I tried everything, reinstalling the game, redownloading the game, drivers are up-to date, Win updates already done and I also tried several problem walkthroughs from many different websites including reinstalling DirectX and more. What the hell is happening? I'm starting to wonder if I can have my money back.

Thanks for any advice.

I just had a week long error run without playing, I reinstalled windows and it worked, I would highly recommend it, only took a few hours

Simply go to the suggested solutions. Carefully delete the right civ 5 files by following the step by step instrctions...maybe reinstall the game also and you should come away with a solution.
