Won't Start in Ubuntu 14.04

Hello Everyone,

I recently obtained a Lenovo Thinkcentre M52 and installed Ubuntu 14.04 in order to play Civ V through Steam on the computer. This is the first system I've run using a Linux OS so please be patient if I don't get things right away.



Anyways, simply, Civilization V does not start for me. I get the little pop-up window that says the game is launching, but only for a second or two, and then the window dissappears and nothing happens. Though I don't have a clue what the real error is, I suspect it has something to do with my graphics card and the Linux distro I'm using. Some quick tech information in case:


Motherboard: Thinkcentre M52 821523U

Video Card: Intel 82945G/GZ Integrated Graphics Controller

Audio Device: Intel NM10/ICH7 Family High Definition Audio Controller

RAM: 2GB (2 Kingston KVR667D2N5/1G 1GB Cards)

Processor: Dual Intel Pentium 4 3.00 GHZ Processors

Linux Distro: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS



If this setup is inadequate to run Civilization V, please tell me what I can do to upgrade or configure my system to run Civilization V (at least at minimium graphics levels but smooth gameplay). If my system is adequate, please instruct me on how to best configure it or change it to solve the problem.


I thank anyone in advance who takes time out of their day to read this and help me. Thank you very much. Civ V is one of my favorite games and I would love to get it working on this desktop.

P.S. I am also running Linux Mint 13 on a seperate partition (the OS the computer had installed when I obtained it...it was my grandmother's computer before she passed away recently). If I can altnernatively use this distro or another linux distro to better play Civ V, please tell me. I am willing to replace or add to the current linux distros I have.
