Need help installing direct x11 please!
Hello all,

My specs:
AMD Phenom quad core
GeForce 650 Ti Boost (2GB)
3.5GB RAM
SSD main HDD, 500GB spinning HDD for storage.

I believe my problem lies in that I use a Vista 32 bit OS.
I would like to keep this OS but install Direct x11 as it is required to play Bioshock Infinite.

Please explain how I can go about installing DX11 on my system. When I google help topics I always seem to get rolled to another page. I've searched for hours trying to figure this out.

Thanks!

BioShock Infinite does not require DirectX11 to play.

I was going to also tell you that Vista doesn't support DirectX 11 anyway, so don't worry about it, however, according to Irrational Games's hardware requirements site, it can.

Apparently, you would need to install "Platform Update For Windows Vista (KB 971644)". http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971644

You don't need it, but if you really want it....

Just stay with DX10 if its supported for your OS

Message: Bioshock Infinite requires that your graphics hardware be compatible with DirectX 10 or DirectX 11, and have the DirectX 11 runtime installed.

Why, then, am I recieving this message?

Also- I don't see where exactly in your link, Migz, I can download that KB971644 Platform Update.
That is one of the updates I kept being told I needed but was unable to find a legit download for...

The instructions are mid-way down the page.

Windows Update
The Platform Update for Windows Server 2008 and the Platform Update for Windows Vista can be downloaded from Windows Update. To obtain these updates, follow these steps:

Click Start
Start button
, click All Programs, and then click Windows Update.
In the navigation pane, click Check for updates.
When updates are found, click View available updates.
Select the update package that you want, and then click Install.

And, I don't know why the game says you need DX10 or DX11 installed if you do. What does dxdiag.exe say about your version of DirectX?

This might be extremely obvious (but you didn't mention it explicitly): have you tried letting Windows Update run until it couldn't find any new updates? That should include the DX11 update - hopefully.
