I agree with the better than most crap we get part. At least lately, most of it has been lame (We do have a couple of weeks before something good comes out at least)

Another one? Really? Why give it a score?

Beyond that, the plot really is not full of holes. Look up the neogaf thread. This plot should be used as an example for continuity in a very hard medium to maintain it.

Mind my asking what comes out in a couple of weeks?

Is it even possible to logically link your opinions to a number in any meaningful way?

I don't think it's a 10/10. I don't think it's a 9.5+/10 but whatever, I don't think I agree with any of the games that got that score this gen.

I felt it was a good shooter like 7.5-8. It wasn't deep enough, was linear, enemies were damage sponges, but had sky rails and some cool powers. With Story and Characters that I'd give a 9. There are a some instances where it felt contrived. But still, for me it was entertaining, and is one of the better examples of it's type in videogames if you get all the voxphones and analyze it. Elizabeth was awesome.
And art direction I'd give a 9.5 it's stunning,

Thus, I'd give it an 8.5 I think it's a very good experience with a fair amount of flaws.

I enjoyed it, but I'll knock it a full point for technical issues alone. The level design is also way, way more linear by and large than the original Bioshock, and there are less interesting interactions with vigors/plasmids. The gunplay is better than the original Bioshock, though.

I have some fairly extreme philosophical problems with the game, but I don't take any points off for something like that. A solid 8.5, 9.5 if the technical issues are resolved in the forthcoming patch.

More numerical scores. I should cite these as examples for my other debate.

Agreed. Numbers are used by review sites and magazines for people who are too lazy to read the words (which often aren't worth reading anyway), to give a quick nugget of information to those people. They tell you _nothing_ about a game.

You can express far more with conventional language about your opinions and thoughts, it's beyond me why anyone would want to diminish their opinions by relegating them to to a simple mark-out-of-ten number.

Hey OP. People like this game, you don't. We get it. Thanks for not bringing anything new to the table.

The problem with bioshock is the entire game it tells you its about multiple realities and in the end the characters suddenly become time travelers. Huge plot hole that made no sense.

I believe that underlying principles of game's narrative can be bent in just about anyway to make sense. I appreciate the effort put into the plot but I think there are many sacrifices the game makes for an overwhelming ending. Better than most of the crap we get? That does not make it a 10/10 game. Many new games don't deserve the 9GN scores they get.

So basically for a game to get a high score, it only has to be mediocre enough to be considered better than crap? Shouldn't that be worth a 5/10, or a 6 if it's a bit above average?

That's some good irony there, man.

You can't spell ignorant without IGN.

I guess you don't know what irony means. I can't bring anything new to something that has no substance.

Ok, it's not 10/10. And ?
