A sad day for the gaming industry.

Such high scores for such a mediocre game. Is this really going to be a benchmark for perfection?

Developers in the near future are going to look at bioshock and wonder, "Why is this so successful?" They will try to emulate it, and fail. Why? Because this game has nothing to emulate, it is mediocre... or even good, but nowhere near perfect. It has hype and corrupt journalism to thank for its overwhelming popularity.

I was thinking the opposite is true, but then again every game, no matter how universally acclaimed, will have harsh critics. No matter what.

That doesn't make it the tied best PC game of all time, I personally don't get the hype, sure its good but I just feel dozens and dozens of other PC games are better. Although the stuttering problems have ruined the game's atmosphere for me in parts. It's certainly not as good as bishock 1 for me so far.

But in terms of Metascore, it is. That was my only point.

Reviewers seem so oddly united about this game for some reason, in many reviews I saw lots of criticisms but then went on to give it a 9.5/10 etc, seems a bit fishy to me.

Good, it deserves it.

I kind of knew a post like this would be a target for negative opinions. But for me, I've been totally amazed by what I've seen so far. I think the reviews are accurate.

(And seriously, if you think all reviews are bought, how would you explain the critical success of an indie game? And conversely, why wouldn't games like Walking Dead: Survival Instinct receive critical acclaim? Activision surely could have afforded that, way more than 2K.)

Todays scoring system is out of whack and sometimes a bit too generous, lol

I do think this game warrants a great score and when comparing this to other games this gen which use the same generous scoring system then yes its worth every digit but when using a down to earth and untatinted system then of course i would have to say not many games are near perfect although this game was great

It is the greatest game evar made! Hype hype hype hpye!

Seriously thoguh I do really like it. I think the strength of its storyline and the overall experience of the game is making all the little things worthy of critique go unmentioned or unnoticed.

Ultimately, whatever game you think is "the best" is completely subjective, and nobody can really define that for you. What I will say though, is my first time exploring Columbia gave me a similar awe as I felt seeing City 17 for the first time.

Haha I know.. seems kind of out of place. But it's based on like 3 reviews so doesn't really count. Oh and I just checked and Infinite's metascore dropped to 95. So looks like it may have to settle for 2nd place.
The best game of all time was Attic Attac on the Spectrum 48k... It is all relative and a matter of opinion. Form your own views, don't be a sheep.

Infinite is a brilliant game, but the internet is big and there are always "critics". Just look at imdb : you can pick out the best movie made by mankind, but on its message board there's at least one dozen commenters who can't wait to tell you how sh** that movie was and how they can't understand why anyone is liking it.
