what am i doing wrong?
i followed the tutorial and pretty much do what that said yet in custom game the AI seems to expand really fast o.o and i cant seem to set the AI difficulty :/ they all set to noble. i'd probably like the game more if i knew why my cities are tiny and the AI has like 10 when i have like 4 or 5 o.o oh and they have a huge army it seems somehow. also sick of the enemy AI bringing settlers over right next to my city just to build a city in 1 square then seeming to grow over my city boundry :/ my AI team mate does it to.

The AI difficulty doesn't matter, you set the game difficulty by changing the difficulty next to your own name. Assuming you're using Custom Game.

If you want to learn a good bit of Civ4, then go watch one or two of GrimithR (on youtube) and his Civ4 videos. I learned a good chunk of it from him, and can play on Noble while crushing the AI, and have a good chance of winning on Prince difficulty.

It helps that he can fairly entertaining, at least to me. :D

ohh thats why i havnt been very good :( i been putting them on diety :( i thought the thing next to the name was how strong you were. i will go check those videos to the game i started now i put in settler. which would explain why i got some world wonders and why their cities are like only 3 and i got 5 this time. <3 but i do need to learn how cities work the tutorial wasnt very good for that it just told me what does what. doesnt explain why am in -gold/turn alot :( but thank you :3

Yikes. When you select "Deity" there is simply no way to expand even close to the pace of the AIs. Your increased costs for units and cities are massive compared to theirs, and they start with 2 settlers and several workers.

Play at Noble level to have a "fair" game where the AIs costs are the same as yours. You're smarter than the AI, and after one or two games at that level, it will be boring, and you'll want to move up.

Protip: build 1.5 workers/city, and choose to work specialists rather than unimproved tiles in your cities.

Themeinteam gives a better tutorial than grimithr and grimithr is unbelievably annoying and arrogant.
