My thoughts on EvE
Yes i know it said i haven't played EvE on Steam but i've played a few trials and had the odd sub and i think this game is basically an X game with less rules, more punishment and of course a great and loyal community.

This probably isn't the best place to say things like that.

Anyone who says that had a pretty limited experience with the game. Probably mined alone, ran a few missions alone, and screwed up and got killed alone. A good chunk of players never make it past that stage. The ones who do, find the real game.

I never really made it that far unfortunitly although i'm willing to go back to EvE at one point.

Even ratting, mining, missioning alone you have the 100's to 1000's in corp chat (i tend to stay in starter corp) to chat with and/or listen to

So in space, your never aloooonnee ;-)

Unless you screw up royally anyway, hell even guys with hefty bounties on them still get welcomed in starter corp chat. I know some say leave it as soon as you find another but i say only leave it when you know for definate that you have the exact right fit.

There's a reason people say that. If you window-shop forever, you'll never be able to choose. A big part of EVE is trial and error, and that includes joining player-run corporations.

Besides, if you want to still have access to the NPC corp chat, just roll an alt for that specific corp. But don't screw yourself out of the crucial learning process, otherwise you'll always be that bear that no one respects and everyone picks on. Just like in the thread I put up recently.

I'll assume you're not trolling and just being stupidly ignorant without being ashamed about it.

Yes but on the other hand leaving NPC corp chat to kep trying until you find the right one, well that's the definition of window shopping. I can do the same that the person who wanders from corp to corp does.

You have to fly with them while unaligned. Both can do that.

Ever since I was in Mercury Dragons in AO (I think they've reformed a few times since then lol) you've undergone an interview process.

They'll look at each person's previous history, bounty, status etc and lets say all but Corp history is equal. Now the others is patchy, looks shaky as they've been in and out of corps and when asked 'looking for the right one' well, they've been doing that since the first and so far they aren't lookig great.

Mine, NPC corp til current date, same answer 'looking for right one' but there's no jumping about, no what could be dodgy activity of trying to get best can from corps them leaving.
I love listening/reading the chat, having convo i can join in if i want, others who can maybe help with answers.
For me corp is like a family, so npc corp is like one big family. corps tend to like those who don't jump about, like family resemblence corp can bring (closeness whatever you want to call it).

That actually makes you look like an alt, and more experienced recruiters interviewing for the powerful, respected corporations will grow suspicious of that.

Jumping around isn't that great either, but anyone who has been around for a while knows that most player-run corporations are bad and/or run by idiots (leadership isn't a common trait), so they'll be able to relate to that. Any suspicious activity can be verified with a few mails to random ex-CEOs and such.

Also, any corporation that prohibits recruitment based on bounty/security status, is terrible by nature, and you shouldn't ever bother joining one like that.

Is that Anarchy Online? I used to love that game back in the day.

@lindhoffen, yeah AO .. I still have a freeb account to that, the sub to AO I had on a year as well but they promised the new gfx engine within that year and still no joy.

I prefer the way you have to assign points to stats, rather than just add skills like most mmo's these days. It's what drew me to EVE

@Shotgun, that depends, the more 'experienced recruiters' as you call them would be able to tell between what would be an alt and someone going through corps (not neccesarily jumping) to find one. They'd want info on website, then contact ingame, a good chat about what you've done, what you are thinking of doing .. ex for me cov ops looks interesting. Use my min for mining for ammo etc

ANYONE in EVE could be an alt, they'd know this, a 1 day old 'newbie' could have a 3 year pvp toon with a high reward on them. You probably know they'd look for clues in chat as to what they seem to know, how they say things. I've played EVE for, well i've moved 4 times at least but I remember little. I was in a corp that pvp at one point (mostly as a scout for what on other side of next jump, certain locs) but that was ageees ago. All i remember from that was i was in a frig, not even faction.

Cool. I subscribed to it and had all the expansions. But it was also very buggy (I played 05-06) and that graphic engine never seem to come either...

The game was fantastic 6-7 years ago, I have no idea how it is now. Very empty I suppose.
