Sam & Max 101: Culture Shock

HERES A SOLUTION THAT MIGHT WORK for those having problems to run Sam And Max culture shock or any other chapter?
Everytime I tried to open the game, I heard the music but the image was all crazy, like closing and opening, don´t know how to explain it, but the game did not work. I wrote to tellgames a week ago, but no answer. I was trying to play Syberia and the exe just failed. Then I saw THE SOLUTION in a Syberia forum: It was very simple, just lower your resolution screen (try different ones until it works) and thats it, Sam and Max and Syberia worked just fine. Hope that helps.

I can't do that, seeing as I'm using a 36" TV via HDMI. I can't scale down on Windows 8.

Im using a 32 " TV via HDMI but on windows 7 and I have no problem, I don´t know why you cant lower resolution, is odd. Search in google something like, I have a a 36" inch and cannot lower resolution on windows 8. See this just in case, maybe it could help you, I don´t know if they show a better way: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/change-your-screen-resolution
You should be able to lower resolution, try something like 1680x1050, in that resolution Syberia runs well. If not, write me again and we look together a way to help you.

I was still unable to lower the resolution (it seems Windows 8 only supports an HD resolution via HDMI), but I was able to work around the issue with an executable that I downloaded. There's a post about 1080p that I posted in recently where I recount exactly what I did and what issues are still around.

All in all, I can play the game now in 1920x1080 on Windows 8, with only the small detail that I can't save or change any settings (game freezes when I do), but it's not that big of a deal since the game autosaves a lot anyway. Of course, this is only for the first two seasons - The Devil's Playhouse is completely compatible the way it is. :)

Thats great, I´m glad you manage to do it. You should write to tellgames to tell you your problem, or to Steam (better to steam, telltales doesn´t answer) and tell them if they can help you because its terrible not been able to save. Anyway, great you could do it ;)

Awesome, thanks. :) I just got into the second season now, and apparently all of the problems I had with the first season are fixed. I'm not sure if using the exe was necessary, but I still used it for all of the episodes just to be safe.

Happy gaming, and I'm glad your workaround worked for you! :)

Thank a lot, and I´m glad second season is working. By the way, as I can see you like adventure games. You should check this page: http://www.adventuregamers.com/articles/view/18643

Some of those you can find it free in The ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, some of them you can buy them in Steam, some of them you can buy them in the same page. There are some good ones. Take care.
