Sam & Max 101: Culture Shock

Sam & Max 101: Culture Shock

What kind of question this is this?
"If someone sets out into the horsehead Nebula in a spaceship traveling 3x the speed of light and his father leaves too, going half the speed, how many nanoseconds will it be before a Time Paradox causes the first man never to have been born?"

Is Episode 2 of Sam & Max Save the World, are you kidding me?

A trick one, since they'll never encounter eachother, assuming of course that space is infinite which it isn't.

Time Paradox would not cause the first man to not have been born. Since he is going faster than light, it just means time is moving backward for him, But from his own point of view he is still aging as well as his father who is also traveling faster than light. There might be a moment when he reacheas his birth year, however it does not matter since he still will be born in the future (to him it is the past though).

All of this of course just supposing that there would be a way of surpassing the speed of light. Which is not possible since you would need infinite energy to surpass it. However science does not discount the possibility of particles existing whose starting velocity is faster than light (particles called tachyons). The question would be, if there were humans traveling faster than light and we could somehow interact with them, how would we see them. Would they be moving backwards, talking backwards and apparently getting younger? While from their point of view they would see us walking backwards, talking backwards and apparently getting younger?

In that Sam and Max question they asume that because time is moving backwards for them, that they are getting younger. They are in fact getting older, it is just for us as outside observers that they seem to be getting younger because we ourselves are moving in one direction of time while they are in the other. All of this is just speculation on my part though.

No idea and my guess is Anti-Matter Entangement?
