Please give me some tips...
How the hell can I avoid screwing the world economy when banning coal? If you don't ban coal you loose the game but when you do it the whole global economy goes to ♥♥♥♥. I have no clue how to avoid such impact or have it be less of a problem.

If I spend too many turns without banning coal globally, emissions and temperature rise dangerously high, but if I ban it too soon, ecnomic crisis appears. I really don't know what to do.

One thing is clear, coal has to be banned, but how and when can I do it so it doesn't have such a bad impact on society?

If anyone can spare some tips I would be appreciated...

(I usually build the GEO headquarters and in 4 turns in the game once I have collected enough cash and built and solved some stuff, I use the "global ban: coal" to cut countries from using it completely, but then the economy is so bad I barely get 100$ to play stuff.)

Because many countries (especially in Asia and China) are really dependant on that resource.
If you check the tabs, you'll also notice how thier industry uses an awful lot of coal (just like reality :P).

Your best bet is to, for those countries, start a conversion process to electric industry and another resource for energy production.

In other countries such as Europe you MIGHT be able to ban coal locally early on, but then those contries will be really susceptible to power shortages if they have power shortages in the future (example: you banned coal and played electric car the turn later: it's probable the energy sector won't be able to sustain the demand surge, thus collapsing).

The best tip I can give you is to learn to read and use the tabs, even if it seems the game can be played by trial and error, using all the info the game gives you is a lifesaver.

IMO Coal Ban is vital. Tobin Tax is the key. Even with ruined world economy you can reach Tobin Tax level if you expand economy using the red cards until unemployment is zero.

You have to decide what regions to go for Tobin Tax and try to maximize their HDI. If a region cannot reach Tobin Tax then instead focus on producing food.

I really don't recommend Coal Ban.

Sure you can get a lot of emissions quickly, but it totally ♥♥♥♥s up your economy, since you need a certain amount of coal for industry unless you run Indusry (which is expensive, can take forever for China, and during the last turn ups your electricity so much it can actually lead to NEGATIVE emissions returns)

Instead, wait till you've got altristic or better outlook, and then run Reduce Coal Use.

This takes longer, but raises happiness more (since it hits multiple times) and you can ban coal later for even more happyness (which you'll have to do to make up for all the hearts you lose for geoengineering) once you've got your economy basically off it anyway.

Also? Its quite possible to win 3 degrees without crashing the economy. You just have to increase your available fossil fuel supply, since its better to burn oil then coal. I recommend drilling for oil in the middle east, and giving them drilling tech on turn 2, having north America research advanced materiasls, and having them develop their natural gas.

will try this, thanks for the tips

@Fugitive unknown:
What is your record score for the 3 degrees scenario ?
My record is above 11000 points and my record low PPM is below 500.

However I have done a lot of different strategies, some of them where I had massive economies combined with late bans and huge amounts of aerosols. I ban coal late in these cases i.e. around 2060-2070 and then spend the rest of the game pumping aerosols.

When I did the early bans however, I did not even need to use much aerosols since the temperature stabilised close to 2.5 degrees. My goal is to ban so early that I do not need to use aerosols since that also saves me cash.
