Fatal Error: Could not find filesystem dll to load.
This is the error that I am getting when I'm trying to play this game. The second I double click the game icon, this message pops up. I've tredi to verify game cache and reinstall the game, but nothing happens.

Wat do?

Here is a suggestion that I posted in another thread.

I highly suggest that you uninstall both Condition Zero (deleted scenes too) and CS 1.6 by deleting local content for both and then reinstalling both. You may want to delete the left over files that remain manually before reinstalling. Everything from the czero and cstrike folders after you uninstall them.

The problem might be that because CZ shares some of the files from CS 1.6, something might be messed up because CZ can't locate certain files from CS 1.6 because of how the update converted files from the old location to the new location. I think that it is the cause for most of peoples problems.

Even if you don't play CS 1.6 it may affect CZ because CZ shares some files. You should try uninstalling both completely and start fresh. Delete local content and then manually delete the folders czero and cstrike [they are in the Half-Life folder] AFTER you uninstall them NOT before or it might not let you uninstall. Then reinstall both CS 1.6 and CZ.

You might want to create a restore point before uninstalling or create some kind of backup.

No luck with that.

I deleted local content, then deleted common/Half-Life/CSTRIKE & CZERO folders.
Then reinstalled CSCZ and CS1.6

same error, could not find filesystem dll

so i searched and found FileSystem_Steam.dll in <username>/opposing forces/, and copied it into common/Half-Life/
also found FileSystem_Stdio.dll in <username>/half-life/ and copied that into common/Half-Life/

but now when i try to run the game it says "Could not load hw.dll. Please try again at a later time."

and i checked, and in common/Half-Life/ there is a hw.dll file, same version/creation date that's in <username>/half-life/

what gives?

I might have found the problem, since the steam changed something with files cs cz was now in common and myusername thing, so i deleted hl1, cs cz, and cs 1.6 manually from both common and username files then i reinstalled them, and now it works, you should try it atleast it worked for me.

Awesome, thanks! except for some reason my custom weapon models didn't show up but my downloaded maps did after copying over my backed up content. oh well, got them all reinstalled now.

the fix for the hw.dll error is :uninstal eac/voiplay(set them not to start with windows..after reinstal) and open cs first after that open eac/voiplay...if you open anticheat first u will get the error so cs first after that anticheat and you can play cs.

from an other user here on steam:
This problem is caused by EasyAntiCheat, so if u wanna play counter strike do that:

1- restart your pc
2- login into steam
3- open cs 1.6 without eac
4- leave cs
5- open eac
6- open cs again

You need to open cs WITHOUT eac the first time so u don`t get the problem, if u open eac before cs by accidente u need to restart your pc and do all steps again.
