First Soviet Campaign Misson difficulty... Seriously?
I just tried the first mission of the campaign. I failed, however, my stats were 104 enemy soliders killed, 14 enemy vehicles killed, 13 allied losses.
So, with my 13 total (only about 8 I actually command) men, I am supposed to take out OVER 104 soliders and 14+ artillery, tanks, BMP's.. etc?
Isn't that a tad unrealistic expectations?

Yes I stole the tank. SO what, when twenty men rush your tank with tank grenades while your trying to take out another tank, how the heck are you supposed to survive such an onslaught?

Well. Think tactically :P

if you feel the game is too difficult, turn off Fog of War and it will be much more enjoyable - if somewhat less challenging.

About getting your tank swarmed by infantry - you ARE using direct control, right ? You can mow them down so much faster than the AI can, especially if theres no fog and you can see them, plus being able to back away from them, and, direct control is just fun.

I do have realistic Fog of War on.

Yeah, I'm using Direct Control. And while I wasn't haven't too hard a time with the machine gun to take down infantry, I was still getting overwhelmed when the machinegun had to be reloaded.
Guess I'll try again.

Try without Fog of War if you find it too frustrating, it doesn't make the game a cakewalk either, but it lets you plan a lot more.

Also, if you think this mission is difficult, wait for the 2nd one =P - Although, the 2nd one does certainly solve your problem with being low on soldiers~

Try hitting backspace setting the gamespeed down. I don't see it as cheating when the game is as intricate as it is (inventory management, resupplying soldiers has to be done soldier by soldier etc.).
Also plant tons of mines.

just try the second one, i barely managed to hold off the germans from the train on that one, literally they were right at my door when the workers finished loading the equipment, now that was hard

Somehow I finished that mission, with no troops left. Trick is to hide, force the germans into defiles and then hit them there. Consider mines, ensure that your tanks live long enough, the extra MG and Gun will prove their worth threefold.

i completely forgot about the mines tip at the start of the mission to be honest, i do my best to ignore the voice acting hehe

it was hard, what i did was mostly try to take out enemy tanks as soon as posible with AT grenades, AT guns and my own tanks, since those were the biggest problems, it definitively feels weird going from the godlike KV-1 to those glass cannons in the second mission

Your T-34 is probably one of your greatest assets in that mission, if I remember right the other two tanks don't have AP rounds, so they're only useful against infantry,

But between your AT guns and that tank you can take out a lot of PZIII's~

It's definetly one of the stand-out missions of the game. Another one would be in the Red Tide expansion, the 2nd one I believe ? Where you have something like a dozen men and are ordered to capture this village filled with Romanian troops, then stop a convoy with tanks and trucks filled with soldiers, granted, you do have the village's guns and such to help if you didn't blow them up.

And then run away while avoiding a base with even more romanians~ - oh, and you have to blow up the bridge too.

Same here. I got to 99%. Now, realistically, they could have done w/o that last crate.

if your having trouble try the cheats mod to SPAWN in extra troops just don't use god mode or better aim or instkill as these break the game just spawn in some extra riflemen and smg gunners and a PLANE
