EPIC, CLASSIC TURN-BASED STRATEGY
Back from the days when random generators were used in games, and very well. Other than the technology tree and story ending, the game is different. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
20 years later, and it still has amazing replayability. How many games from today will be like that in 20 years?
This is the first of the series. Then came:
(2) X-COM: Terror from the Deep
(really fun; just like X-COM but mostly underwater, and MUCH more challenging - 9/10)
(3) X-COM: Apocalypse
(LOADS of fun, way better graphics and gameplay; ability to choose between turn-based and real-time before every mission - 10/10)
(4) X-COM: Interceptor
(a realtime space flight/combat sim - 2/10)
(5) X-COM: Enforcer
(a cheesy, basic 3D shooter where you're a robot - 1/10)
(6) The Bureau: XCOM Declassified
(a squad-based, tactical 3rd person shooter; plays like Mass Effect, with much less dialogue - 5/10)
(7) XCOM: Enemy Unknown
(an EXCELLENT reboot of the series, staying very true to the original - 10/10).
The series is phenomenal, and will be a cult classic for a long time to come.
I give the whole series 9/10
if I pretend games 4-6 never existed).
