does the game really get this hard all of a sudden?

so i have been playing on easy (i suck but do pretty good on easy) and i have gotten all the scout ufos and have done plenty of terro missons. but all of a sudden 8 ships that are the higher up stronger ones come out of now where, my intercepters had laser cannons ans missles but they could take any down, and in litteraly 5 in game hours a alien base was made pretty close to my base, i am asking if this ufo activity is normal or if i just got ♥♥♥♥ luck.

If you see a large ship, dont shoot it down till you have plasma cannons. Though yes, a base is very common. But if its near your base, destroy it right away. The supply ships may see your base and then a battleship will DESTROY it. I presume you dont have a mind shield yet?

On a second note, get a hyperwave decoder, that will help you know what each ship has, and what its going to do/where its going to go.

Dont buy defences, if you shoot down a battleship another will come straight away. The only way to stop them is to defeat it inside your base.

Yeah its not your luck its just when the game decides to bend you over if theres high UFO activity in one area it means one of two things

fristly it means they are building a base you will know this if you send an interseptor over there and find it or have lots of large supplie UFOs being sent in that area.

Or it could mean there doing an alien ifiltration mission which means lots of ships will close to a countrys capital and if you dont do anything almost every time that counry will pull out of the xcom project near the end of the mounth.

yeah xcom goes from wow I mastered this weried user interface master of all. taking down everything and then BOOOM! oh no no no no don't rape me with that probe. think I only got to the end once and because I was in Kenya and it was the only game I had to play. the new one is way easier if not just a challenging.

thx i know this is a delayed response, but i was gone for a while, but yeah i tried to destroy the base and got ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ i lost that game but thx for the response i will be sure to do what you say in my next game
