Mind Control
It is always exciting when I see an alien on the map that isn't an Ethereal or a sectoid, because I think awesome I get to play X Com on this mission. I get to click on buttons and enjoy playing not watching messages that say "under alien control." Does anybody else feel this way, like there ought to be something that limits mind control?

I usually don't bother anymore with the downed UFOs which have aliens that do the mindcontrolling. There are enough other crash sites to plunder at this point with aliens which might be harder to kill, but at least I don't have to worry about my own soldiers killing each other.

The satisfaction of downing an alien which has been taking over my soldiers for the last 15 minutes, is great though.

Have you captured a psychic alien yet? Once you get the Psi-Ops up... oh you'll have your revenge! A couple, gifted, well trained psychics and some rookies for scouting can easily take on any alien force.

I like rockets. just take 6 soldiers with rockets on the mission with a mind controlling alien.

I love mind controlling aliens. I keep my people on low TU so if they control one they can't shoot on turn one, and I always have my people travel in pairs where both have the melee stun weapon. If one of them is mind controlled they just end up being moved into the backpack. So sastisfying to finally win.

It's a shame you can't make them lose a turn in the new XCOM due to having no TUs. Mind Control is still very useful but nowhere near as good as it was.

Aliens tend to pick on 1 or 2 guys (who are weak willed). Have them drop their weapons at the end of their turn so that they can't shoot you. After the mission, you might also want to sack those who get consistently mind controlled.

The ones who get constantly mind-controllled are bait, give them a weak weapon and keep a stun weapon nearby.

Or don't give them a weapon at all. I use my grunts with low psi defense as medics. They get medkits and ammo. That's all.

A stunrod might be something to have them hold as well. I don't think the AI knows how to use it, but in the right hands at the right time it would be useful. Your "bait" is clearly the one who goes in the UFO first so he has a good chance of getting close enough in there to be useful. There's nothing like opening a door to see an alien right there waiting for a tap from your rod.

Seeing a cluster of 5 together within the range of one Stun Bomb blast.

When your troop gets taken over, they get full TU's, so that tactic isn't going to do anything for you.

Odd. I've never seen them shoot on the first turn. I'm guessing I'm just obscenely lucky or something.

It works for neutralizing mind controlled aliens who revert, but I think he is right about friendly mind control
