Bioshock on Win7/64 - Another fix for the sound issue so many people are having

On my Win7/64 with a Soundblaster X-Fi Extreme (don't ask), I had the "bioshock.exe has stopped working" issue that so many people reported. Of course I tried many of the suggested fixes (Connect headset with mic, install OpenAL, set compability mode, run as admin etc.) - to no avail.

However, the following worked for me: I simply set CompabilityMode=true (in the ALAudioSubSystem section) and MaxChannels=32 (in the FMODAudioSubsystem section) in the game's default.ini file.
