I played this game when it came out, and i kept playing it untill the CD was so scratched that i couldn't even load up the game. then i bought another copy of the game and played it untill i managed to lose the disc. this game, when played in turnbased, mode is one of the most rewarding and punishing games i've ever played. you will groan in pain as your most experienced soldier is blown to bits and pieces by a organic seeking 'nade. you will grin widely as your rookie takes out entire swarms of aliens and saves the day, using only a pistol. you will question your will to carry on when you read "please insert X-COM apocalypse CD to continue"(unless that is horrifyingly wrong..). it crashes, sure. it has some bugs, sure. but, if you're even vaguely interested in turn based strategy, this game is a must own. the best part is: it doesn't end unless your base is wiped out. this game should come with an eternety symbol. i made it into the alien world one time, died instantly and lost every soldier i had. didn't go back after that, didn't need to. i had more than enough fun with murderising aliens. and anyone who fell under the aliens spell. hm? oh, i didn't mention that? you can raid any building on the map. you will of course massively aggrevate the corporation who owns the building, and they WILL attack your base, unless they're weakened enough. or you invest in security stations. but the point is: you CAN if you WANT to. even IF the government stop the fundings, you can still live of the salvaged alien weapons. once you've researched them that is. i could go on but, i digress. look past the graphics and enjoy this game for what it is: turn based strategy hell. a good kind of hell.
