The first game in the series is a contender for the best game of all time. The second tries to do more of the same, it is basically an underwater re-skin of the first. Of course it falls a bit short of that goal, but it's still an atmospheric and fun game.
The gameplay is identical, but the atmosphere, the "feeling" of the game, is different. Most of the negatives should really be positives, but they don't quite work our. The main problem is that the maps are much bigger, which leads to many missions turning into a "where's Waldo"-version of alien hunting. One terror mission took me about two hours to complete, compared to maybe 30 minutes in the first game, and about half of that time I spent just running around an empty ship looking through each cabin after the lone hiding alien.
The difficulty is also severely ramped up from the already difficult first game, the difficulty teeters on the edge of frustratingly impossible, however, it would have been worse if it was too easy or easier than the first.
Overall, good game, but only get this if you have already finished the superior first game and is looking for more of the same, but with an increased challenge.
