Get Blades of Time instead. it's a reboot of XBlades, although even that isnt that great but it is better than this

I played it ages ago, it's pretty terrible. Not worth buying even for the ♥♥♥.

So basically if I already have Blades of Time no reason to get X Blades?

Also, just out of curiousity what sort of DRM does this have?

it wasn't that bad, i never got around to beat it, but if you got $5 to waste why not :)

Seriously, don't buy this game. I bought it for the bad review just to see if it's that bad (curiosity got the better of me), and it was.
Imagine tomb raider without exploration. You go from room to room, and you can't leave a room until you defeat all the enemies. It would be sort of fun if you have to find enemies one by one and defeat them to get the keys. But no, they just respawn out of thin air after you kill their allies. You only have to stand in the middle of the room and smash buttons until all the enemies are killed, wait for more to spawn and kill them again, go to the next room and repeat. It's just plain tedious.
Don't buy this game out of curiosity. Just don't buy this game!

To save you the trouble of looking up reviews on Metacritic, PC Zone (UK) had this to say...

"There's really no reason you'd want to play this, unless you like looking at the pert buttocks of a young girl while clicking the mouse button a thousand times a minute." (19/100)

It's a very VERY simple hack'n'slash. Don't know if I would drop 5 on it though.

I just bought it today, played for an hour and a bit. This is basically how it goes.

You enter a room (with a short movie if the story progresses far enough to warrant it). You fight monsters. They come in waves you fight until the waves are done.

The AI for the monsters, not the greatest. Pretty simple, swarm you or bombard you from the sky so there's very little strategy employed by them. Attack in numbers and try to overwhelm you is the basic principle.

The battle flow, is a bit clunky. Your standard attack is also not very fluent and only has 2 attacks. Slice, and slice more outward. Slice, then slice more outward. And since there is a pause after the outward slice it doesn't feel very fluent because you stop fighting for that pause to finish.

The spells are actually very numerous. I'm only in the fourth room and there's like a dozen spells I can unlock (many of which require way more points then I am currently earning so I guess they pace you that way).

all in all, it's a mindless hack and slash with an attractive (if you're into that kind of thing) anime chick. I guess there's a story line in here somewhere but definitely I can see myself playing this from time to time when I don't even want to follow a story or think about what i'm doing. Totally veg out.

Worth $5? I'd say so. Not much more then that though.

I can say that I have played it in the past. and I have to admit, I liked the game. sure you're average room has wave after wave of things to kill but there is SOME, not much, but SOME stratagy involved in taking out some of them. there is also the boss battles, and you do eventually unlock more attacks. it has an interesting story that is eventually told as you play through the game.

It's not for everone that's for sure but at $4.99 I'd give it a go, I'm going to pick it up myself just to have it on steam
