The second one is awful sadly, Majesty 2 heroes no longer have much of a personality and won't so much as even breathe unless you're paying them to. Real disappointment :(

Random example, a rat in majesty 2 attacks your palace, your heroes completely ignore it until you slap on a 500 gold bounty. The ♥♥♥♥?

The second lacks in some departaments, compared to its predecessor, like visual style, hero characterization and many gameplay aspects. I'd say they are equal in difficulty and sound effects.

Speaking of difficulty, I was also dissapointed with the overly wide scope of DLC available for Majesty 2, like upgrades beyond level 3 in blacksmithy facilities or additional temple spells. I couldn't help but feel that the game was largely built around buying all that additional stuff and that made me sad, but I guess that would be a category of its own.

If the AI was good in Majesty 2, it would be a superior game in a lot of ways. Unfortunately, the AI is so terrible that I find it frustrating to play any missions as heroes will not do pretty much anything unless they are paid to do it. No longer do they go out and attack monster lairs. No longer do they fight monsters that they can handle (ie a LV1 Wizard standing his ground fighting a dragon, while a LV12 Warrior flees from a Giant Rat). No longer do they do other things besides stand around and look pretty. No longer will they passively defend the kingdom. EVERYTHING must be paid to get anything done and well, its harder to get gold in Majesty 2 and so many things cost too much gold, so I consider it a lost cause.

There is always the nostalgia factor, happens in most series “the previews one was wonderful the new one sucks…”

I played Majesty 2 first and loved it, then I tried Majesty 1 and didn’t like it, didn’t like that much game play and graphics looked so dated.

Well of course it will look "dated"... it was afterall created over a decade ago.

I wouldn't recommend the second game.

i'd like to recoment second game too. especially to anyone who likes real time strategy fantasy games. expect different game than majesty (1) and you won't be dissapointed.

In the first game, you spend 90% of your money on your town and 10% on rewards.

In the second game, it's the opposite. You spend most of your money micromanaging your heroes.

Both games got some things right; both games got some things wrong. I personally prefer the first one because of its heroes; they had so much character and life to them. Though it was problematic when they had too much gold and nothing to spend it on.

The first game is still fun. The second game, sadly, failed in some areas.

I played Majesty first and Majesty 2 second, and I loved both of them. I dont know what people are talking about for the A.I in Majesty two, it seems fine to me, aside from the heroes not attacking lairs without orders; That's a good thing though, especially in a freestyle game that you want to go on forever. Try playing a freestyle game in Majesty 1, it ends after 20 days when all lairs are destroyed. Furthermore it's set that way so your low level heroes can level up.

I admit there is alot of upgrades you need to buy in Majesty 2, like skill moves (similair to library in majesty, but for each class), random potions and far too many blacksmith options. It takes much longer to get your heroes maxed with gear and enchantments in Majesty 2 than it does in Majesty. Oh and the characters act exactly the same as they do in the first game, I have no idea where people are getting that from. If saying "My service ends!" or "A foul beast approaches' is considered a personality by people, then I'm completely baffled lol.

All in all if you can get it on sale for a good price I'd reccomend it, it's alot of fun and in kingmaker I think it is you can even make your own scnearios!

Always use respawning lairs in freestyle mode. :)

The 2nd game is different than the first. You have people that say the first sucked but the 2nd one was great and vice versa. Asking here, of course you would see much hate for it.

I liked the 2nd one. It made a lot of improvements, but they made bad steps in some good things with majesty 1.

Majesty 2 was real good, but the A.I. was gutted greatly... no denying that.

The A.I. script was nothing but:

1. Wonder around in a very SMALL circle. (if rogue, loot graves you walk by).
2. If you encounter an enemy, attack for flee. If flee, run home or inn and go back to 1.
3. After you wonder around for a small time, check to see if there is any reward flags
4. After you check to see if there was any flags (or have done them), go shop.
5. Go home/inn
6. Come out home and go back to 1.

That's pretty much what Majesty 2 A.I. was
