Help me understand this game!
Hello! I have some questions about the game, completed the tutorial but there are still things i don't understand. I tried doing the Berlin mission but I failed horribly: people were very mad, long waiting times at the bus stops, i tried adding more buses but that didn't go well. I am also having money problems :P

my questions
How nearby should stations be in a line? I mean, from point A to B, you should put stations so that it is correctly covered or if there are a few red places it's ok?
Bus for short routes and trams for long routes?
How many Bus/Trams do you have by route?
It is a priority to make a line from the train station to the airport ignoring the mission's task?

Ok, i'm going to explain every answer i've got separately.

1) about the mad passangers. >>your vehicles could be in bad nick (poor condition). Your stops could not be looking good too. Also, the time it takes for an MODERATELY EMPTY bus to stop by, influences their happiness.

2) about the waiting times. >>this is somewhat a flaw of the game. The private traffic booms and the streets soon get all clogged up (even in 1930s, which is stupid). The only thing you can do is set some of the buses on alternate streets, puting stops there (even though they don't collect anyone). If the queueing is still too high, try putting some higher capacity buses on such lines, like Dino Vettore (the bendy one).

3) about money. >>this is really annoying in this game. If you want to be financially successful you simply MUST download a passanger capacity mod. The game as mint original is just rubbish P.Cap-wise. You could also fiddle with the files in your installation directory and choose one bus that you use very often and change its values, like price to buy, passenger capacity (p.cap) and speed/accel/etc.

4) about the stop concentration. >>the ideal (as i find it) is for the stations to cover their full area of effect and never touch one another's. You might also try to do shorter lines and more connections. [TIP]> use different methods of transportation on your connections. If you connect two bus lines with a bus line, the connection passangers WON'T PAY. But, if you connect your bus lines with a tram line, they'll have to pay up.

5) about vehicle ammount per line. >> it depends on the demand. Sometimes, more small buses are better than a couple of huge ones, when the travel is too long or the line gets a lot of passengers on a short line.

6) about priorities. >> i have no position here. It is simply your choice. If you could use the money the rewards give, then go for them. If you're enjoying your time, build some lines for yourself (they might fill the requirements for future quests!)

Road level transit in this game is really tricky.
It's hard to make it profitable and functional. Car traffic and some of the road configurations make functional bus and tram routes impossible in many areas. Start with a metro line.

A well planned metro line in the city center can be highly profitable.Just keep the stops close to each other so you can get the line up and running without spending millions building tunnel.
A few stops closely spaced can be built cheaply.

As you get more money you can extend the line stop by stop. I usually start with a line from a train station to a residential area and then connect it to a stadium or harbor or major industry like an auto plant. With a good cash flow from a metro line (or lines) you can focus on perfecting road level transit lines and satisfying the mission goals.

It's easy to turn a profit in this game there's no need to mod it. In the worst case scenario you can take out a huge loan and build a major metro line all in one go and then wait a year or so for the loan to be payed off.

I hate to say this, but this point is completely untrue. You DO NOT need any mods to be financially successful! You just need to learn how to play properly...
I've written a couple of guides to the game, you might want to read them. These are just the beginning, there will be more soon!

Great vid Raptor! You sir have a future in the gaming review biz. I dig the mellow vibe and the wit. Your review convinced me to pick up this game on the current sale.
