Competative Vote-Kick abuse.
Lots of people whining about the new matchmaking, personally I like it (yes a lot of matches don't finish, but in a few weeks all those rage quitters will be on week long bans and the servers will be nice and clear for those who actually want to play).

What I want to bring up however is the exploitability of the vote-kick system... this has been abused a couple of times in games I've played where a team are losing so they all vote-kick one guy and instantly get the option to end the game because of bots.

Not sure how to fix it, all I can think is to put some sort of cooldown on votekicking, but that obviously isn't a perfect solution.

Thoughts?

I think the vote to end game because of bots is really stupid. Haven't played a full matchmaking game since the update. Even if the vote is 7-1 to keep playing, the game ends... so dumb.

Hopefully in a few weeks when the ban list has gotten a bit longer then bots won't be much of an issue because most of the people left playing will be those that are ready and able to commit to a full match.

i dont believe ban system will work along with this vote thing. You forget that after a week ban times r reduced so with enough quiters it can start over and over until we die from frustration.

From what I've heard (and I might be wrong, cause I can't find actual details of how the cooldowns scale (maybe cause I'm having a special moment)) if someone gets a week ban, and in their first game back rq again they go straight back to having a week ban... So if they keep perservering and coming back over and over again it's only going to be once a week so you might occasionally get the odd game with a rq'er, but most will be decent games.

Hell, all these people whining that they've not got through a single game are either lying or are only playing one game at a time and then giving up. Out of the games that me and my friends have got in the last couple of days (while a bunch did end with rq) like 30-40% went the distance (not great, but it's early days and it's not like it takes THAT long to get into games, in half an hour you're likely to get at least one game that goes all the way)... And that number is only going to increase as the rq'ers all get their bans and leave to play casual or use the server browser (or cry on the forums as the case seems to be atm).

I like the part where its impossible to finish a damn game

Clearly you don't read then... I just said that I've gotten through a number of games with the new matchmaking. Yes you have a persist a little, but not every single games ends with someone rq...

Things need to be tweaked a little, but the system is essentially a good one and eventually the rq'ers will be gone and people can actually play a competitive game.

http://blog.counter-strike.net/#abandon <--- Also, link to how the cooldowns work... it takes a week for your cooldown level to drop, so there won't be that many persistant rq'ers soon.

I am one of those who whines man, and i try much more than once. My match completion percent still stands on 0. Longest i ever got was 15 rounds (9-6), but usually it ends much earlier for me. Probably bad luck here, but still very frustrating. So I do feel like most ppl whine for reason.

I have played for hours today, live-streamed for quite a few games and there are many viewers who can account for the fact that I have not once, in the past 2 days, completed one full match. This isn't about whining, it's about getting a chance to play what i've paid for. I am not oging to stop, obviously because I assume that the developers see the blunder that they've made. There will always be people who "rage quit" or just dc for reasons out of their control but the community on a whole should not have to pay because of someone else's issues.

I completed 5 matches in a row yesterday. You guys are probably designated in the leaver elo bracket.

i agree, at first it was terrible but even now i am noticing the difference and i've managed to make it through 3 matches now! lets be honest the system was flawed before the update anyway with most games joining being halfway through, due to rage quitters so give it time and this new system might work. Im sure valve are aware of the problem people are facing but they know what they're doing

Okay, maybe I was a little harsh, there probably are plenty of legitimate cases of people not getting a single full match, so I'm sorry about that.

On the other hand the rq'ers are being filtered out by the bans, so more people will be getting decent games.

As for other people who dc for reasons out of their control... Of course there are sometimes going to be reasons why you have to leave, that's just going to happen, but if you have to leave then a 5 minute cooldown isn't going to affect you because you're not going to be there. Yes this will sometimes mean that the game ends for the rest a lot so I'd say that if you're going to play competitive then you should be as sure as possible (of course you can never be 100%) that you're going to be able to see it through to the end. Leaving because you're going to be late/need the toilet/etc... Those are not legimate excuses for leaving, because you should have thought about it before you started the game.

Also, if you're dc'd because of a crash... well then maybe you should make sure that you've got the game running stable before you play competitive. Even then, only the most serious crashes would stop you getting back in, my friend has dc'd due to crashes a number of times, but he always made it back onto the server in 3 minutes anyway.

This update is not a blunder, it's taking the game a step closer to what they said the game would be... They wanted a competitive enviroment, that's why they built the game while constantly talking to the competitive community.

Also, people who want think that Valve should have just added the new matchmaking in as a new option seem to forget the huge costs it takes to run and maintain servers... If they added this matchmaking in as a second option they'd have to run and maintain a second set of servers, the first hosting the old system that is constantly running 24/7 just cycling maps and a second ready and waiting for the new matchmaking system that is ACTUALLY making matches and not just drop in games. Why should they waste resources on maintaining what essentially amounts to public drop in servers when they want to make a competitive game and the community is ready to handle the public casual side of it anyways?

If you can't commit to a competitive game or you don't have the time or you just want to drop into a game use the server browser... that's what it's there for.

This is really crap. No game can be played to the end. After 4-6 complete the game is not finished because of a Vote. Please change that.
