Seasonal Ranking?
CSGO is generally the only game with a ranking system I play, but I'm aware that in other games ranking is done on a seasonal (yearly?) basis.

In CSGO it's very easy for anyone to see that both the silver and gold nova rankings are filled with smurfs and are the most common to encounter hackers upon (this is simply because their pool is larger compared to higher ranks). While this would not be something that's eliminated with a seasonal ranking system, but I personally argue this would combat it.

I was once MGE, now I'm all the way down to GN2. I personally don't believe it's because I'm inherently bad, although I do believe I'm certainly not "good", but rather that no matter what rank I play whether it's on my friend's silver account or the gold novas and AK levels, the opponents are always adequete.

If you need more incentive than for the happiness of your customers Valve (considering the f2p market aspect you gave this game, although I don't mind and enjoy it), this would also probably encourage more players to buy more copies of the game in an attempt to pull their way out of an elo during whatever season.

I'm curious what other people think of this though. I doubt toptier ranks would be in favor, but us trapped over here in elo hell certainly don't look down on the idea.

Perhaps Valve might look at this like a survey of sorts, put YES or NO at the top of your post to provide whether you agree with what this would do for the game.

tl;dr Do you think Seasonal rankings would be good for CS:GO as is done in other 5v5 games with ranking systems? Put YES or NO at the top of your post, maybe valve will look at this like a survey.
