If you think other game devs haven't done this, you're mistaken. Developers usually keep every major asset they make, if an asset fits into another game, then why would you make it again from scratch?
Anyhow, even though the maps are very similar, it still takes time to re-create it as such because its not exactly the same.

And yes it's true... I've spoken to devs who've said they've reused basic assets and even whole buildings in as many as 5 different games. The usually try to make new assets for new games, but time is always a factor and when you need a room filled with basic objects, you just grab any ♥♥♥♥ you can find in the asset library and throw it in.
