Can you have multiple characters in game?

I clicked "new" on the menu, and all it did was ask if i wanted to start a new game. I'm afraid to click yes, I just wanted to try out a different player class/playing style. help? :x

So, after you do that, how do you get back to your original character?

Start a new game but use a clean save for your new character (not a bad idea to disable most of your mods until after Helgen too when you start a new game). There should be no plroblems as long as you do not save over a game that you have already started. I have three characters that I use for different aspects of the game and have never had a problem.

It's hard to tell them apart though and any auto or quicksaves will be overwritten.

You could go to My Documents / My Games / Skyrim and make a copy of your saves folder. Name it after your character and store it in a backup folder. Then you won't have to worry about overwriting your old character's saves.

well you can have several save files but thats about it. No real system for multiple characters wich is very sadly (especially since its an RPG with the element of choice emphasized)

beware to not override your savefile if you have several characteres.

You seem to be new to games.

When you click new you are making a new character, the old character doesn't go away unless you delete those things called saves (they save your character so you can play them again)
