failed to initialize renderer
I havnt played skyrim in a few months. Updated all my mods, updated my drivers. Tried to play... but all I get when I press play is "failed to initialize renderer". I read around in the forums and some people said its due to your gfx card not being able to handle skyrim, which doesnt apply to me as I already have 60 hours clocked in. My drivers are updated, not really sure what to do.

I have 2 6950s running in crossfire and when I disable crossfire skyrim plays but crashes to desktop when I press continue in game.

disabling all mods didnt help either , nor lowering resolution or playing windowed modes etc

now it works and I can play it if only I disable crossfire. Otherwise if crossfire is enabled I get the same failed to initialize renderer message

my fps seems way higher as well O.o, suppose they have done some optimisation, but do you know if theres anyway I could enable crossfire so I can have crisp performance

Dude running 2 cards is mainly for running 3 screens in suround vision, not really to boost one screen game playing. skyrim will run much better using one card as you found out as it dont use the power of the second

crossfire increases by fps by 40-100% in most games so thats why I use it. Some games just dont utilize it though and if I am honest its probably the last time I get a dual card setup. For some reason my fps is around 40-60 on 1 card now though, as oppose to about 20-25 O.o, so I will just live with it :p

bethesda are very behind the times with using pc specs as they insist on making games based on the ♥♥♥♥ poor toy boxs specs they so happly get bribes from :(
