Hardest thing in Skyrim
You want to know the hardest, and longest thing to do in Skyrim? Making a name for your character :l... Anyone else feel the same?

I bought a "Baby Name" book a few years back for helping to choose character names in computer games. It's the most well-thumbed book in our house and starting to lose it's covers from use :)

I just say random sounds and make them into a name. Or i take whatever word that comes to mind and mash it up. Like this: Kalashnikov (AK-47) + my old teacher (Mr Norris) = Kalaknoriv.

+1 for Legalrick2. I like to think of something thematically fitting for the game (like "Firebreath" for Skyrim) and then abstract it once or twice so that it's unique and no longer as obviously tied to the game (Freath, etc.).

names are easy just snag a old god/demon/wutever name like Pazuzu or Thoth or Marduk .

proper proportions are harder is the chin to long or not wide enough ? are the eyebrows to high above the eyes? is the nose to low ? damn i know the eyes are to far apart .... 2 hours later i can name the character

What about all the usual suspects...

Al Bino
Anna Konda
Ben Dover
Eileen Dover
Jay Walker
Mona Lott
Pepe Roni
Heywood J'Blomi
Rick Shaw
Rusty Carr

and on and on...

I feel ya about the proportions. When I'm done witht the character, I always find something I hate, and from then on I am always bothered about it. :P

Norse deity names seemed a safe if unoriginal place to start for me, considering the setting.

If you look up one of the dozens of random name selectors on the net, they will give you a name. Or two names if you want a character with two. There are also some which will give you a name from a list of race names so you could look up Nord or Norwegian if you want to. And you could keep clicking until you get one that feels right for you.

Your own name always works!

I usually don't make a new character until I know exactly what they will be like, what their name is, what they will roughly look like, etc so that I don't have any trouble.
