So... did we get Dawnguard?
Cause by the look of this giant fort I'm looking at and the Dawnguard.esm in my data files, I'd say we did.

It seems to be a Steam mistake. I have all the DLCs so it did not affect me. I cannot remember a precedent for this right now, but it is my policy to be 500% legit in all my online things, especially with Steam. This is because nothing is worth risking my account. You could ask Steam Support, since this forum is for us regular users and we can just guesstimate all the legal stuff, and that is not a good idea.
Prof. Oak 24 sep 2013 om 12:57vm
In the process of seeing if I have the content I guess I did technically start the quest. I hope they don't ruin my account status or my save state over a mistake they made. =/
Major Moolah 24 sep 2013 om 1:03vm
I hope so too, but I am not sure what will happen. In some cases it pays to be paranoid :/ It is not the users fault, though, so I doubt they will just lock accounts. I do wish all who have this contacted Support, because the legal things forces Support to answer, and then the Skyrim owners would know for sure what's what.

One problem is indeed the savegame thing. It could lead into technical difficulties if someone plays it and then Valve takes the Dawnguard DLC back. Problematic.

I bought skyrem because i heard dawnguard was free... I hope they let me keep it =))
I was at my friends when they started to get super excited i wanted the game in the first place. But this was my selling point. Although i bought it after the fact, does it mean i have dawnguard?

When you load the game and you get the half-window Play Game option, click the option Data Files. If you see Dawnguard.esm in the data files then yes you have it.

They already fixed it. It was a mistake.

Can you please provide a link stating it's fixed?

Sorry, it looks like the thread has the first half of it missing...

Am I right in thinking that you have bought Vanilla Skyrim, and have got Dawnguard with it by mistake?...

I've just read another topic where people said that.

You didn't ask me, but all Steam users were given the ownership of Dawnguard DLC for a few hours. Even those without Skyrim, apparently! So if you had Skyrim installed and auto-update on, then Steam downloaded Dawnguard for you. The licences have been revoked but those who did not delete the content still have the Dawnguard files. Since I owned all the stuff it did not affect me.

The real question is what happens next. Steam has not responded yet, so I am not sure what the legal aspect is. I think people should contact Support to cover their bases, but that is just me.
Rebask 24 sep 2013 om 8:40vm
Can they even tell if someone has deleted it or not? I mean, if you get a Danguard achievement it becomes kind of obvious, but otherwise...

Edit: Does it even track achievements to dlc you don't have the licence for?

No one knows. But I will take absolutely no chances when it comes to my account. I will also recommend the 100% legit approach to anyone that asks.

Ever start Half-Life 2 and see the red valve in that guys eye? He tried to hack his account.

You should also know that asking for advice to do something non-legit is suicidal, even talking about that subject is. I Report Post those people myself, as should everyone else.

I repeat myself: contact Steam Support.
TheMostManlyMan 24 sep 2013 om 8:58vm
Well since this was released as an update that thousands of people got I'd assume that it's legit, an enormous mistake on someone's part, but legit nontheless. I highly doubt that they'd ban anyone's account over something that thousands of people have recieved through no fault of their own.
Major Moolah 24 sep 2013 om 9:02vm
You do what you want, I do not particularly care.

But until Valve tells what is what then Steam Support will be my Official Standpoint.
