Skyrim unplayable lag?

Ok i'll make this short and simple. I've downloaded skyrim and even on min settings it lags a lot. I play the fallout games, dead island, world of tanks... etc on high settings with no lag... I've tried updating drivers but that doesn't change anything... here are my system specs.

intel core i5 3.2ghz
radeon 7730m 2gb
windows 8 64
8gb ram

ideas?

do you have any programs in the background taking alot of RAM?

Make sure you are not running off your laptops integrated graphics.
