I don't think Bethesda is obligated to support Oculus Rift users, just as they weren't forced to include voice-activated Shouts by Microsoft.

The game isn't "dead", and neither is the series as a whole. If anything, all this should tell you is that Pete Hines and company have little to no interest in VR tech. It's their prerogative.

There will be no more patches. There is an infamous engine glitch that Bethesda introduced in 1.9 beta. It broke the lip synch of NPCs in a way that makes their mouths seem like demons are possessing them. All sorts of intelligent and respected community people have been telling Bethesda about it since the beta. Bethesda has not said one word of this and most likely never will. This was off-topic, but I hope it makes you understand that you ask the impossible.

Yeah - Beth has a history of causing more problems while fixing isolated issues... Considering what Moolah said, I highly doubt they'll ever get around to offering bona fide Oculus Rift support. It's an entirely ancillary concept that has no really urgent need of being implemented.

Alternatively you could setup multiple monitors, its quite immersive in itself as well. Besides this really is a good game without all the technical mumbo jumbo. Hooking the computer up to my home cinema equipment is just amazing. There are more than one way of creating an immersive gaming experience.

That's all well and good, but wait a few years before worshipping the Rift's nonexistent feet. It's an immersive tech, that much is obvious - but consider how 3D televisions aren't having as much market penetration as the main constructors expected. Also consider the fact that some people have motion sickness and will simply never be fit to try the Rift without having a bucket on standby.

I have strabismus, myself, which means I have a lazy eye. In other words, I don't see in 3D. I see things on a flat "canvas" of sorts, I have no true depth perception, but I've learned to compensate. On a day-to-day basis, there's no difference between me and someone who views the world in Stereo. In front of a 3D movie, however, I'm entirely disadvantaged.

So stick a Rift in my face and all you're getting me is a tiny screen stuck smack against my one good eye, along with the massive headaches that are sure to follow.

I'm just one guy, but keep that in mind, hm? There's other people like me, and the fact that 2D glasses have been marketed that allow people like me to go see 3D-only presentations without wanting to gouge our eyeballs out is a clear indication that things like the Rift won't ever be for everyone.

WeaselBiggs,

The way the Rift works you'll be focusing on infinity - even though the screen is only maybe two inches from your face. Staring at it for hours on end should be better than focusing on a monitor. Maybe not on the dev kit's screen. It's low res. Once the retail version is out, with 1080p or better, it'll be sweet.

Really dude ? Occulus rift might be impressive but I personally don`t like it. There will be one time our next generation gets an system chip to be controlled by the goverment

I like futuristic stuff, but this goes to far

No, no. It will be "gaming chip" for full immersion, the goverment control will be a hidden addition :P

Haha, exactly! But I believe the Government of the USA is working/improving the chip. You can also get such a chip in EU for free if you want.

Worlds gone crazy

Honestly, although I'm not much of a believer in the usual Orwellian theories, I'm more of the mind that governing instances and corporate bodies feel like they're about to fuse. If Microsoft is OK with selling stuff out to the NSA for the purported purposes of national security, doesn't that technically mean that the degrees of separation between what you buy to entertain yourself and who you supposedly elect are becoming thin?

Back on topic, though; I honestly don't know what the Rift is bringing to the table that qualifies as honestly groundbreaking stuff. It's just a more intimate screen, as it were. Unless you strap yourself to an Omni on top of it and somehow manage to make every controller-based game gesture compatible, you're nowhere closer to creating the fabled Holodeck experience.
