For all you planning or thinking of getting ESO on console
Just read on gameinformer.com that Bethesda lobbying sony and microsoft to have ESO exempted from the fees of online multiplayer play. Sony hasn't budged about it and seems to be going on with charging an extra fee. The same with Microsoft(which I'm not surprised and I personally believe they won't change). Sony on the other hand I don't know what they will do however if ESO goes f2p as some people predict it will then it will probably be moved in front of the pay wall unless sony budges before that. How does this sit with you guys and what are your predictions on what's to come?

I wasn't intending any Xbox One hate(notice i didn't say Xbone). It's just I've come to know microsoft as a company that loves milking money(i.e paying developers extra money to release games on xbox first). I'll admit Sony is greedy too, it's just they are more liley to budge cuz they aren't AS greedy(but they are still a little greedy). I don't really care about the consoles and please, no one turn this thread into a console debate because that's off topic and there's already 1000000000 other threads that do that.

ESO is coming to consoles? Guess I need to keep more up to date. I figured it would be a PC only game. lol
Exitium 28. aug, 2013 @ 8:20am
they could only add it to ps4 and xbox one cause the others cant handle the open world or something

I'm playing over PC,
but however if sony and microsoft don't agree on those terms releasing the game for consoles won't pay off a bit,

they already lost a huge portion of player base because of the decision to go by sub,
especially on consoles

Lets clear up any confusion, because I heard something along these lines as well but I assumed all was sorted now with the recent news of the p2p system.

Subscriptions all round except for ps4 at the moment, is that correct ?

So pc and mac, xbox one are to be subscription based, but the ps4 is still undecided.

If sony doesn't agree to this subscription base, eso on all platforms may have to be changed to the buy to play model.

Sorry op I am reading your post and getting confused, could you explain it again please.

I kinda worded it weird I geuss. But first off Sony did say they are charging online to play just like xbox. The problem here is: ESO costs 15$ per month; and since it's online it requires xbox live or psn to work and those require subscriptions as well. Because of that console gamers have to pay an additional fee to play ESO which is why bethesda is lobbying against because it's unfair. Pete Hines who is the marketing manager(If i remember correctly) is trying to convince microsoft and sony to exempt ESO from the monthly subscription fee for online play because it puts PC and Mac people are getting an unfair price advantage over console gamers. I hope that cleared it up for you and anyone else who was confused. You can also go check out the page on gameinformer.com because the guy there probably will explain it better than me.

Thats pretty clear.

I don't really know, but I also think they have lost huge portion of player base because of the decision to go subscription.

I really hope that Microsoft and Sony don't budge one inch. I would love to see Zenimax Online have to sit there and scratch their heads until they finally make the game buy to play. I honestly don't have TOO much of a problem with the subscription, but if I have a choice of a one time buy or a subscription, I'll take the one time buy. Just, for the love of Talos, don't make it free to play!

Yeah probably but to me I was expecting them to do the subscription model so it wasn't even a shock to me. I have heard a lot of people predicting that it will go f2p within a year of release

microsoft released an awsome console? you mean like that piece of crap they released 6-7 years ago called the xbox360 which gave millions of people Red rings of death and microsofts excuse was - its your own fault, were not doing jack about it - and then had to be taken to court and be told to be responsible for releasing a console that craps out

Oh wait but then they still released millions of 360 consoles which STILL crapped out with the over heating issues + scratching disks to the point they dont work anymore + HD failing + the lasers on the drives crapping out because they were cheaply made + various other failing issues.

Then we get the new 360slim....were promised no more RROD....instead we get the Red Dot Of Death instead.....and all the other same crap from before....thanks microsoft

Yeah im gona pass on this NEW console from microsoft considering there track record with consoles.....why the hell do some people think its a good console?

Sony did a better job with the ps3 but its far far from perfect. Loads of crapping out issues and disk drives just failing and only now near the consoles end when we have the ps3 slim have most of the problems been fixed.

yes now sony wana charge people to use online mode? but wasnt the PSNetwork free for the ps3? but now on the PS4 i gotta pay to play the game online....yet that SAME game i can play online FOR FREE on my pc?

Sorry but i will be sticking with my gaming pc and MAYBE getting a PS3 when its somert like £50 so i can get the games for like £4-5

not a chance im touching a crappy console by microsoft considering there past history
Nick Naughty 28. aug, 2013 @ 3:35pm
I can't see sony or microsoft dropping the live feature and its fee just for one game, more like mr.zenimax how about you drop your pay to play if you think there is a problem.

You would have thought Zenimax would have thought about this sort of problem before hand.

The early days, lets turn elder scrolls into an mmo, it costs x amount and will profit x amount if we go subscription based.

After a few buy to play mmo's are released, lets remove the p2p from the eso site and carry on developing.

Now, lets add the subscription to the game again and ......... o crap the consoles are paying twice.

I see more profit loss coming to this future game, and zenimax arn't really thinking anything through.

I done a google search quickly for eso subscription and one of the results was "Elder Scrolls Online: Boldly Going Where Other MMO's Have Failed Before", I'm not even sure that eso will be taken seriously enough due to zenimax decisions.
