Help please!
I am experiencing two major problems with the game. The first is that I cannot absorb dragon souls, the second is that I am being killed with only one or two hit by very basic enemies (i.e. bandits). I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, I have tried disabling my mods, I have tried very simple things like startng a new character and equipping the strongest armor I can find. I can't fix these two things. Does anyone have any suggestions or has anyone else experienced these issues?

You can't absorb ANY dragon soul from the start of the game? If you could absorb them before, and now you can't, this is a common bug, it happends when too many dragons spawn at the same time, one of them won't have a soul. About bandits.. it's weird, are you on the highest difficulty? Even there, they should not twoshot you unless you aren't wearing any armor.
In light armour almost anything can kill my character in two shots - that's why I tend to drink potions after the first hit. When I switched to heavy armour, most of those bandit arrows just bounce off of me and I rather like that.

If you are soft and squishy then the trick is to not get hit. Give them something else to shoot at instead.

Light armor is better for stealth, not really meant for direct combat
Check if you didn't accidentally put your difficulty on master.
^^^ That is interesting, Maj. However, with no skill points devoted to armour skills whatsoever, heavy armour does seem to be better than light when it comes to stopping arrows. I find that this is true in any event.

As for sneaking, well the heavy armour might make it impossible to creep up and pick someone's pocket but for crawling into a good defensive position and sniping the enemy, it has no real effect on the game. When I'm close to a target (meaning mid-range) they can detect me but not find me, so I simply move, wait, move again, etc. Muffle is my friend.

No doubt, I'm missing out on the cool armour skill tree perks available but I had other things to deal with. Perhaps I'll get around to building up the armour stuff later on?
Mod order is a common reason for not being able to absorb dragon souls. Also, install all of the unofficial patches if you have not done so already.

And light armor is not going to offer much protection until you get your light armor skill up. Also, learn how to block.

Stay mobile and use terrain like rocks and doorways to limit the number of enemies that can attack you at once.

I was able to absorb my first dragon soul on my original character but none after that. When I started a new character I wasn't even able to absorb the first soul at all. I have checked my difficulty level and reset it to Novice and still am getting pummeled. I always use Heavy Armor as I am more of a melee fighter than long range or stealth. I have all the unofficial patches thru Nexus. I'm getting upset that my favorite game is having such glaring issues and if I wasn't so in love with it I'd take a hammer to my system and fix it for good!

There is nothing "wrong" with going with Heavy, but I prefer Light for utility myself.

"Lightly armoured means light on your feet..smart."

I am perpetually over-encumbered myself, so I have no issues with weight or movement...I'm always very, very slow...lol Since running away isn't even an option, it's best for me to have some decent armour to help me survive the odd hit that does come my way.

Light armour looks a lot cooler though. I'm almost embarrassed running around in my silly Daedric Armour. When I get to town, I can't wait to change into my Emperor's Robes of Smithing!
List your load order esm,s, texture packs, unofficial patches and esps. PS it must be in this order as listed
