ENB Won't even start anymore. What's going on?
I'm having a huge problem here. I don't know what happened. Skyrim decided to bork and F- up at random.

My ENB stopped working, I removed and reinstalled all the files twice, with no luck. I've also tried using different ENB presets, but even if they did work, they're all crap. I really want to stick with Project ENB. It suits Climates of Tamriel perfectly.

Does anyone know what might have gone wrong? I've got all the right versions as far as I know.
Another thing is, I never seem to be happy with the preset, so I'm constantly tweaking it. I think it's mostly because I'm too picky, and too hard on myself.

I like bloom, but not so much that all the colors fade. As for Depth of Field, that's a nono.
Ahem, my point is... ENB won't work for me for some reason. And I really don't know why. I have no lighting mods other than CoT.

Any help, tips or wild guesses would be appreciated. I've just about had it with Skyrim right now. I just know I'm crazy, wasting all my time trying to fix ONE game, making it perfect to my wishes. But I guess that's just me being a perfectionist, and wanting to completely immerse.

If you can, please help! D:

A very basic question but it has to be asked. Do you have d3d9.dll in your Skyrim folder (the same folder as TESV.exe) and is it version 0.1.1.9?

I might have to check that too then. I assume it is, if it hasn't been updated. I'll let you know.

If you have been using different ENB's you may have used a newer version of Boris' dll. This could cause problems with Project ENB as it appears to be quite specific in using v 0,119[enbdev.com].

Sorry that I can't offer much help, but I recently posted here with a question about how to turn off/lessen the depth of field effects of an ENB. I also use Project ENB, but the constant re-focusing when looking at a blade of grass at my feet and the mountains hundreds of yards away is really irritating. Do you know how to tweak it so this does not happen?

You can turn depth of field off by editing enbseries.ini

[EFFECT]
EnableDepthOfField=false

I have not tried to reduce the effect as DOF gives me a headache so I never have it switched on.

I'm using the right version. This is really driving me nuts. It's such a pain.

Wow, thanks a bunch Kabacus. I feel kinda stupid since I wasn't able to find that on my own, but now I know!

Also, I really didn't realize how much strain the DOF was putting on my eyes until it was off. Much, much better now.

Are you by chance using Hialgo Boost?

When you launch Skyrim is the ENB reporting that it has loaded in the top left hand corner of the screen? This usually appears in white text and is then followed by what is enabled in yellow text. What does the yellow text report if it appears?

Well that's the thing, that text doesn't appear now. I might give reinstalling the ENB a go though.

If the text doesn't appear then the dll isn't being used. This could be because it is corrupt or not in the same folder as the TESV.exe. Are you launching Skyrim in a different way than via SKSE or the Steam launcher?

If it were me I would re-download the dll (link in a previous post) and replace the one in your Skyrim folder, I would also re-download the ENB, un-pack it to a different location and re-install overwriting when prompted. If you have heavilly changed the config files you may want to back them up first.

Turns out I was missing that one DLL. Somehow I must've accidentally removed it. I'm such an idiot. x.x

However, my ENB still decides to break sometimes when I tweak it... Which is a shame.

At least you are sorted.

For now, thanks for the help nonetheless.

I'm still curious about why my bloom is acting so weird though. Maybe you know?
No matter how high I select the bloom levels in the enbseries.ini, it always only looks like colors are being bleached away, not the way I used to see bloom in Skyrim (also with this ENB), which caused everything to be a bit shiny, and reflecting sunlight, etc.

I might have to experiment with some things, but I'm afraid of messing things up. lol
