Begging for games for free should be frowned upon here too. Most of us here work for a living to get what we have. Just saying.

Right on Bob360.

Begging should result in a ban for about 3 months. That would give them time to get a part time job and afford the game.

I spoke to a 12 year old who has and plays Skyrim, Hitman, COD...any game that is rated, kids can get a hold of.

The majority of begging is from kids who do not understand or give a crap about the meaning of having to earn things for yourself. They have their asses wiped meals provided, clothes provided, money given to them by mum and dad, bills paid, no rent or anything to pay. Driven around by their parents..

They don't know the meaning of having to pay for things. So they just beg, thinking it's fine. Well IT'S NOT. The ones who are in college or are leaving college still beg though, and that is an attitude that they are trying to bring into society. That it is okay to beg someone to give them something for nothing.

This isn't the way that the Real life world works...and they need to learn that real quick, otherwise they will be in big trouble when they realise that they have to pay to keep the roof over their head.....I'm glad the moderator pinned it. Hopefully, it will help to get this message across.

I wouldn't want my kids begging for stuff, they would learn the concept of earning things, and the reward that comes with it.

Expecting things for nothing is one step closer to stealing.

So true.

I had my eye on a bike when I was 14, and my father said "Get a Summer Job instead of gooding-off, and you'll have it." I got one that same week at the local grocer stocking shelves. Close to the end of Summer I had more than half saved up, and my father kicked in the rest. I was just a kid then, and learned the value of money, not to mention self respect, and pride. A lot of that went out the window with this "ME & I" generation. :(

It does seem like we're coming across as 'hard line', but that is what discipline is all about, teaching kids the tools they need that eventually become willpower and self respect.

See how your dad GAVE you half the money?....Why?......Cos you proved to him that you got off your ♥♥♥ and earned it. Good point Bob..You have prob taught that point for many years yourself huh...<wink>

The sad part is that millions of children in the US go to bed hungry each night. And here are kids begging for games.

I agree with all the above, but it's really not your or my job to raise those brats. I used to remind people about the rules, now I simply use the Report Post button.

The purpose of the pin is a notice (like the moderators have done in other threads) to raise awareness to people who are thinking of posting, not to post. A signpost, if you will..not an attempt to raise the kids....
Major Moolah Jul 4, 2013 @ 2:43am
You misunderstood me. This is a good signpost indeed, I just said what my policy is if I see those trade/beg threads anywhere in Discussions

Hey angel, just so you know, we are just community users like you...a moderator has pinned the notice.
Major Moolah Jul 6, 2013 @ 2:47am
I think I saw a trade thread the other day, someone posted the rules, the trader read them and said that there should be no backseat moderating either... That is why they built the Report Post button

What about we Seniors who worked all our lives and earned the money to buy the games. Over 30 years of 45-60 hours a week you can imagine how this begging makes us feel.

I for one am offended by some kid wanting us to buy him a game. There are plenty of fast food jobs where he could earn it.
