Is Hearthfire worth it?
Of all the dlc Hearthfire is the only one I am not sure of getting.

It's only $6.49 US at the moment, and it'll probably be even less than that during the Steam Summer Sale, so why not? Also, some mods require Hearthfire to function, so I don't see a reason why you shouldn't get it, though I understand the hesitation.

Some mods require all 3 dlc's so you might as well give them the money.

Weird that it's showing that for you - its normal price is $4.99 US.

And Hearthfrire's okay. Fairly easy to get bored of the houses, though. After your first couple of experiences with them, odds are you'll stick with just making a Small House (for the exterior amenities of a garden, chicken nest, fish hatchery or bee hive, carriage, and stable) and maybe a Main Hall (so you don't have to travel for Alchemy & Enchanting) at each location. Other than saving a loading screen when you want a place to store stuff (exterior, non-respawning chest) or to craft (especially Smithing, since you can build all the stations outdoors), there's not much to them other than flavor.

Kids can be annoying, but if you're an Alchemist, they tend to drop a fair number of good ingredients in their chest, so it's worth having one around. :P

Chaith - Marriage is in the base game.

I find your notion wierd, as greenhouse is a definant build if you don't plan on using the house just for the free alchemy ingredients you can grow.

Plus I'd say everybody could probably use 1 kitchen and 1 library.

Plus you can adopt poor children in a land ravaged by war and they ask for an allowance too.

Skyrim may be better at the run away economy than the others, but giving the kiddies stuff does help a little, personally I rarely give them less than the full 1,000 since I already have over 100k in a safe and my spending gold is over 100k, would be more but I had to pay off my crime bill in Morthal to continue the civil war.
its not actually ... i bought it just to get the achievements
whatch some gameplay on youtube it looks kind of fun.
I was skeptical at first, but while it takes a bit of setting up, the player houses you can build make a great home base, plus lots of chests so you can store your random ♥♥♥♥ you don't want to sell. Also, you can produce alchemy ingredients, get enchanting and alchemy towers, a bunch of stuff. Also, if you get a steward, you don't have to go into town to buy a horse, as you can just have your Steward get one. You can also get a carriage that can auto-warp you to every major settlement. My only major criticisms are

a) you can't train your adopted children in the arts of war and then give them badass armor (you CAN give them weapons, though. It's kind of funny watching the kids run around with Daderic artefacts) and then have them with you for the final battle.

b) I can't buy armor for my horse.
theres a mod for armored horses

yeah so basically every ♥♥♥♥ you can do in ordinary house
Are there any achievements you can only get from Hearthfire that I'm unaware of?
I don't know if it's worth what they ask right now, but it sure will be during the Summer Sale, which is right around the corner.

It's not like Dawnguard or Dragonborn but I don't regret buying it.
