Dawnguard Crash (Help Please!)
Dawnguard Crash (Help Please!)
When I'm first traveling to Castle Volkihar, I have the normal scene with the watchman opening the portcullas, and Serana telling me to be cool when inside. But when I try and enter, the door opens, and the loading screen comes and then the game crashes. Can anybody help me? I'm running no mods other than the "Unofficial Patchs", and all the DLC. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

does your skyrim Data file look like this; Skyrim.esm, Updates.esm, Dawnguard.esm, Hearthfires.esm, Dragonborn.esm, unoffical Skyrim patch.esp, unoffical Dawnguard patch.esp, unoffical Hearthfires.esp, unoffical Dragonborn patch.esp. the Hi Res texture packs #1, #2 & #3 i personally do not use these as i see no real different effects, but they would loaded after everything else and they also have an unoffical patch too. It's all about load order!!!!

I don't have the Skyrim.esm or Update.esm. I've found the problem, but can you tell me how to fix it also?

Okay. When I open my Data Files, I see (in this order) Dawnguard.esm, Hearthfire.esm, Dragonborn.esm, and the patches. What I don't have is Skyrim.esm, or the Update.esm That's my problem.

forget about Skyrim.esm and Updates.esm, that was my mistake

That means that I still don't know the problem. The game still crashes. Thanks for your help anyways!

your load order will be; Dawnguard.esm, Hearthfires.esm, Dragonborn.esm then the 4 unoffical patches-Skyrim, dawnguard, hearthfires and Dragonborn in that order. try this save your game then load that save then try to enter the castle.

go to your list of games, then right click on Skyrim, scroll down to properties-left click on properties, then left click on local files, then scroll down to verify integrity of game cache-left click on verify integrity of game cache-it takes afew minutes to do it's thing. it will most likely say your are missing one file and that it will get them back for you. i bet it says you are missing at least one file, i'm hopeing it says two files are missing. Check your Skyrim data file and tell me what it says-left click on my icon the black dragon head on the left side of this comment. your reply will come to me on my page
