Unable to play skyrim. PLEASE HELP!

So after i click the launcher for skyrim, it says "preparing to launch skyrim: elder scrolls V. But it stays like that. It never actually launches. Also, when i go into my game's library, all of my other games say "ready to play" but under skyrim, in yellow lettering, "syncing". I don't understand what that means. If somebody could help me out, i'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks1

you have saved games on the steam server ..
it's either uploading or downloading saved game settings

Skyrim saves are BIG and takes ages to sync after you quit game, I turn cloud off for this game.

Thing is though, i haven't played the game for 3 months. How can it still be updating saved data?

Lots of updates in 3 months. But 3 hours seems like lots.

Thank you everyone for your help! I finally got it working by completely shutting off steam and then open up skyrim and log in from steam that way and it worked. Again thanks!
